Devices and methods for treating obesity are provided. More particularly, intragastric devices and methods of fabricating, deploying, inflating, locating, tracking, monitoring, deflating, and retrieving the same are provided.
摘要:
Apparatus and methods for administering treatment within a bodily duct of a patient. According to one implementation a treatment catheter having an expandable structure disposed at an end thereof is provided that includes an elongate hollow shaft having a one or more first through holes and one or more second through holes spaced axial apart, the one or more first through holes residing beneath the expandable structure. A sleeve positioned along an outer surface of the hollow shaft is moveable between first and second axial positions to respectively permit or inhibit the flow of a treatment agent through the one or more second through holes into the bodily duct. An elongate wire having a seal unit is positioned within an inner lumen of the hollow shaft. The seal unit is moveable between first and second axial positions to respectively permit or inhibit the flow of an inflation medium between a cavity of the expandable structure and the inner lumen of the hollow shaft through the one or more first through holes.

A method for navigating therapeutic, diagnostic or imaging agents in a vascular network or body cavity is introduced. The method is characterized by high directional gradients and a high magnetic field strength. The latter is used to saturate the magnetization of magnetic therapeutic agents such that when combined with high directional gradients, improved navigation of the magnetic therapeutic agents can be provided at various depths within a patient's body.

Methods and treatments are taught for the diagnosis and treatment of breast conditions, including proliferative breast disease, ductal hyperplasia, lobular hyperplasia, atypical ductal hyperplasia, atypical lobular hyperplasia, ductal carcinoma in situ, lobular carcinoma in situ, lobular carcinoma and invasive breast cancer. The methods and compositions deliver efficacious formulations of chemical and/or biological treatment medicaments to the breast via a transpapillary route.

Contrast administration data that relates to operation of a contrast media injector system (602) may be converted from at least one format (e.g., a CAN-compliant format) to at least one other format (e.g., an HL-7-compliant format) by an injection data management module (660) for use by a medical system (600). Data on contrast media prescribed for an imaging operation using an imaging system (690), contrast media data for use in this imaging operation, and data on contrast media actually administered/injected by a contrast media injector system (602) for this imaging operation may be stored in a data structure (780) on the injection data management module (660). Patient renal function data may be used to control the dispensing of contrast media from a contrast media/storage/dispensing unit (500), to control the operation of the contrast media injector system (602), or both, and may be stored in the data structure (780) as well.
摘要:
A method of imaging a blood vessel includes delivering a bubble-based contrast agent within the vessel and positioning at least one ultrasound device in the vicinity of the bubble- based contrast agent within the vessel. A first burst of low-frequency ultrasound energy can be delivered to excite the bubble-based contrast agent into oscillation within the vessel, and a second burst of high-frequency ultrasound energy can be delivered at the excited bubble- based contrast agent. A return signal from the burst of high-frequency ultrasound energy can be received and processed to obtain one or more images.

Imageable disruptable capsules containing a sensitizing agent or a protecting agent are used to enhance radiation therapy. Said capsules may be imaged by a non-invasive imaging modality, allowing for the determination of the precise timing to disrupt the capsule and release the sensitizing agent or protecting agent using an external energy source. This controlled and timed release of the sensitizing agent or protecting agent provides for enhanced radiation therapy by optimizing the delivery of the sensitizing agent or protecting agent to the target tissues. Systems comprising non-invasive imaging modalities, external energy sources and radiation energy sources are also taught for use with these imageable disruptable capsules.

A jetless intravenous catheter for the delivery of a fluid into a peripheral vein of a subject includes an elongated body having proximal and distal ends. The body includes a wall defining an internal fluid passageway configured to receive fluid flowing in a longitudinal direction from the proximal end at a first axial velocity and a tip aperture at the distal end configured to allow fluid to exit therethrough. The body comprises at least one flow reducing feature configured to create a laminar-turbulent transitional flow associated with a fluid flowing in the longitudinal direction at the first axial velocity and configured to reduce the flow velocity of fluid exiting the tip to a second axial velocity that is less than the first axial velocity.
摘要:
A catheter assembly having a dual lumen proximal tubular portion including a guidewire lumen and an inflation lumen and a single lumen distal tubular portion that receives the guidewire and can additionally receive fluid. The catheter assembly includes flow passages in allow fluid to flow from the interior of the catheter to the exterior.
