    摘要: A therapeutic device for improving voluntary control of paretic muscles in a patient extremity is provided. The therapeutic device is designed to be portable and may be strapped onto a patient's wrist or ankle. The device employs a plurality of micro-motors configured to deliver vibratory sensations to a patient extremity as somatosensory inputs. Each micro-motor is dimensioned to reside on a patient's respective finger or along their foot. The therapeutic device also includes a micro-processor programmed to actuate the micro-motors for designated times and in pre-programmed sequences, and a housing containing the micro-processor. A method of using somatosensory input as a functional guidance to improve motor function in a patient extremity is also provided.

    摘要: An apparatus is disclosed that cools an exerciser using an exercise machine by blowing chilled air directly onto the exerciser from an airflow director that is independent of the exercise machine. The airflow director is either located within the living space of the exercise room, or able to project a directed stream of chilled air into the living space of the exercise room. The airflow director can include adjustments for chilled air direction, flow rate, and other qualities. The chilled air source can include adjustments for temperature, humidity, and other qualities. A plurality of airflow directors can be included, so as to provide uniform cooing and/or to deliver chilled air to a plurality of exercise machines. A barrier and/or chilled air return vent can be included, so as to save energy and enhance the localization of the chilled air. Some embodiments can also warm the exerciser using warmed air.

    摘要: A performance data storage device is provided that enables an individual performing an exercise session to record and transmit data concerning the exercise session in a real time manner using a mechanical interface or in a wireless manner. The device is capable of storing performance data for a number of exercise sessions and downloading the data to a separate computing device to analyze the data. Additionally, the device stores this data in conjunction with additional user information, such as a user identification code and exercise machine set-up parameters, in order to enable the device to set up an exercise machine for use by an individual prior to beginning any subsequent exercise session. The device can communicate with a computer using a USB standard protocol yet be able to communicate with a USB peripheral device, i.e., an exercise machine console, without the need for a USB host device.
