Abstract:
The disclosed composite wood particulate products, adhesives contained in such wood particulate products, and methods of making the adhesive and the wood particulate products employ an aldehyde-free adhesive, and more specifically a formaldehyde-free adhesive. The aldehyde-free adhesive includes an inert additive that extends a resin, such as an isocyanate resin, and forms an evenly dispersed, less expensive polymeric adhesive admixture. The extender-filler of the resin is mixed with water to form a slurry. The slurry can then be mixed with a resin, like the isocyanate resin, to form the adhesive. Various rheology modifiers can be added, if desired, to the extender-filler or the slurry. The adhesive can be blended with wood particles to form a mat that is then pressed into a composite wood particulate product.
Abstract:
A woody formed article, characterized as being produced by admixing a woody material W and, as a binding agent, a thermoplastic resin R in the form of a fiber and/or a ribbon which is easy to be intertwined with the woody material W, and molding the resultant mixture. The thermoplastic resin R is preferably admixed in a state of being heated and molten. A method for producing a woody formed material, characterized in that it comprises providing a mat M of a raw material mixture Mx of a woody material W and a thermoplastic resin R in the form of a fiber and/or a ribbon and subjecting the mat M to heat pressing, or comprises, in admixing the woody material W with the above thermoplastic resin R in the form of a fiber, stretching and fining the resin R by means of a hot wind and/or a cold wind, and admixing homogeneously it with the woody material W by utilizing a negative pressure zone due to the hot wind and/or the cold wind, to prepare a mat M of a raw material mixture Mx, and then subjecting the mat M to pressing.
Abstract:
Fiberboards are manufactured by defibration of fibre material, admixture of binding agent, drying of the fibres and forming of a fibre mat, which is pressed to boards. The fibre mat is formed of two outer layers and one intermediate central layer. The fibres intended for the central layer are caused at the drying to assume a very low moisture content, suitably 2-8%, in relation to the fibres intended for the outer layers, which preferably are given a moisture content of 15-30%.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a wood composite panel having a major planar portion, at least one panel portion, and an inwardly extending contoured portion surrounding the panel portion and interconnecting the major planar portion and the panel portion. The contoured portion defines an inter-relationship between a vector angle and a deep draw depth that achieve a satisfactory stretch factor. The present invention also relates to a door having the diclosed wood composite door facings, and methods of forming the facing and door.
Abstract:
Reconsolidated wood product (22) formed by compressing and bonding natural wood which has been rended to form open lattice work webs (14) of naturally interconnected wood strands. The webs (14) are laid over each other in overlapping fashion so as to extend at an angle to the direction of extent of the product (22), with opposite ends of the webs being closest to respective opposed surfaces (60, 64) of the product.
Abstract:
A method of making fibreboards by the dry method technique where a lignocellulose-containing fibre material is disintegrated into fibres which are dried and formed into a fibre mat which is hot-pressed. Binding between the fibres is obtained by means of a binder which can be added before or after drying. According to the invention the binder is added before drying and the fibres with the binder are dried to have a moisture content substantially lower than that moisture content in the material which is suitable for hot-pressing. After drying, moisture is added to the fibre material in a degree such as to attain the moisture content suitable for hot-pressing, whereby the tackiness of the binder, which has got lost to a great extent during drying, is restored.
Abstract:
Particle boards, e.g. wood particle- or chipboards, for building purposes, which have been reinforced by means of glass fibre filaments or threads placed in the boards. The threads are laid to obtain increased rupture strength and increased resistance to punch-through of concentrated loads, and are fixed at given spacing in conjunction with the board manufacturing process. The method of reinforcing the boards during manufacture is also included by the invention.
