The hydraulic unit is a power-transmission element comprising two pistons which can be displaced in relation to one another and have working surfaces of different dimensions. Said hydraulic unit is also an intermediate element, which together with the pistons encloses a pressure chamber that is filled with a hydraulic fluid, when the small piston with the smaller working surface is mechanically connected to the drive element, when the entire hydraulic unit is displaced for a control movement and when the intermediate element is locked to prevent it from being displaced in relation to a fixed frame, in order to enable the larger piston with the larger working surface to exert a great force.

With regard to pressure control of an electric injection molding machine, there has been a demand for a method of detecting injection pressure with high precision and extremely small time lag without the need of an expensive pressure detection sensor that requires complicated installation work, a complex mechanical structure, or such manual operations as noise suppression measures or zero-point adjustment. The device and the method employ a high gain observer that incorporates a discrete arithmetic expression derived by using an equation of state for expressing a numerical formula of an injection/pressure-keeping mechanism of the electric injection molding machine. The high gain observer receives input signals comprising a screw position signal in addition to a motor current command or actual motor current, and outputs an estimated value of injection pressure, which is one of status variables of the aforementioned equation of state. The high gain observer outputs an estimated value of injection pressure with high precision and extremely small time lag without the need of a pressure detection sensor. Therefore, an estimated value of injection pressure output from the high gain observer can be used as a feedback signal of a detected value of injection pressure for injection pressure control.

The invention relates to a device and method for automatically monitoring repetitive operational sequences on injection molding machines and/or on handling units to injection molding machines, and for identifying abnormalities or disruptions with regard to the operational sequence. During normal production operation, the repetitive operational sequence of at least one partial process is provided, and a measurable quantity (1), which is influenced by the partial process, regarding the operational sequence monitoring is automatically recorded in short sampling intervals (2). The sampled values are compared with limit values (6) that were formed, by using an algorithm, from a multitude of previous sampled values of the same operational sequence. The sensitivity is automatically adapted to the process variations with regard to a decision to alert or terminate. This novel solution permits the carrying out of monitoring with the highest possible sensitivity, however, without a negative response, e.g. repetitive traveling motion, but also for operational sequences without moving parts such as the d.c. link voltage in converters or during controlled processes for monitoring a quantity that is not controlled.

A signal processor (104) periodically produces analogue control signals for controlling machine mechanisms at a first loop closure interval and periodically produces digital control signals for controlling energization of machine heaters at a second loop closure interval. Values of analogue and digital control signals are determined according to control algorithms relating set point values and measured parameter values. Calculation of values of analogue control signals includes calculation of a first command value according to a first control algorithm, calculation of a second command value according to a second control algorithm and selection of the lesser of the first and second command values. Compensation for 'cold' thermocouple junctions (162, 163, 16a) created at the connection of remote temperature sensing thermocouple leads and the signal processor interface circuits is provided. Die neue Erfindung schlägt eine Vorrichtung sowie ein Verfahren zur Überwachung von repetitiven Abläufen an Spritzgiessmaschinen und/oder Handlingsgeräten zu Spritzgiessmaschinen und Erkennen von Abweichungen bzw. Störungen in Bezug auf den Ablauf vor. Im normalen Produktionsbetrieb wird der repetitive Ablauf wenigstens eines Teilprozesses vorgegeben und eine durch den Teilprozess beeinflusste messbare Grosse in Bezug auf die Ablaufüberwachung in kurzen Abtastintervallen automatisch erfasst. Die Abtastwerte werden mit Grenzwerten verglichen, welche aus einer Vielzahl von früheren Abtastwerten des selben Ablaufes über einen Algorithmus gebildet wurden. Die Empfindlichkeit wird in Bezug auf einen Alarm- oder Abbruchentscheid automatisch an die Prozess-Streuungen angepasst. Die neue Lösung gestattet die Überwachung mit höchstmöglicher Empfindlichkeit jedoch ohne Fehlansprechung, z.B. der repetitiven Fahrbewegung, aber auch für Abläufe ohne bewegte Teile, wie die Zwischenkreisspannung bei Umrichtern, oder bei geregelten Vorgängen zur Überwachung einer jeweils nicht geregelten Grösse.
