Abstract: The present invention relates to a metal sticker for decorating an outer appearance of a portable communication terminal such as a portable phone or the like, or outer appearances of other objects, with a polished metallic feeling. A lustering or delustering process can be performed onto a portion of the metal sticker, and a process for coloring the metal sticker with a wide variety of colors can be performed without additional complex processes, thereby achieving aesthetic enhancement. The present invention also relates to a method for manufacturing the metal sticker. More particularly, the present invention provides a metal sticker comprising: a delustered or lustered thin metal sheet pattern having a bottom surface with a bonding layer; and a pattern layer which is formed of a delustered or lustered metal plating layer or a painting layer, and selectively exists on the outer surface of the thin metal sheet pattern. The present invention also provides a method for manufacturing the metal sticker.

Abstract: A process for making a bright metal laminate (10) comprises applying a highly reflective metal layer (14) to a supporting baseweb (12) comprising a flexible thermoplastic and thermoformable polyurethane film. The metal film (14) comprises indium or an alloy of indium and is applied to a surface of the baseweb (12) by vapor deposition techniques. An optically clear polymeric outer layer (16) of preferably acrylic or polycarbonate resin is laminated in free-film form to the exposed surface of the metalized film under heat and pressure to bond the outer layer (16) to the metal film (14). The surface of the polyurethane baseweb (12) is sufficient to produce adhesion of the metal layer (14) to the baseweb (12) in the absence of an intervening bonding layer or surface treatment, while smoothing out the metal layer to a mirror-like finish that produces a reflective laminate having a DOI greater than (95). The laminate (10) can be thermoformed to a three-dimensional shape while retaining its high level of distinctness-of-image.

Abstract: Modern cook-tops typically comprise a colored glass ceramic plate (1) serving as a cooking surface, which has cooking zones (2) that are heated by radiant heating elements (3), and on whose top side decorations are applied. In order to obtain particularly brilliant decorations while providing a smooth cooking surface of the glass ceramic plate (1), said glass ceramic plate (1) is comprised of a non-colored transparent glass ceramic material, whereby the decorations consisting of temperature-resistant coloring substances are applied as IR-permeable coatings (6) only to the underside of the glass ceramic plate (1). The decorations, when viewed from above, thus display brilliant shapes like a rear surface glass painting, and the cooking surface side of the glass ceramic plate (1) remains smooth.

Abstract: To provide a method for the production of a decorative film, by which minute uneven patterns can randomly be formed on a metal layer, and a decorative film which presents rainbow color appearances irrespective of observing directions. The decorative film of the present invention is produced from a decorative film precursor comprising the first resin layer, the second layer having a thickness of 0.3 to 0.8 mu m, and a metal layer, which are laminated in this order. When the decorative film precursor is heated at a specific temperature for a certain time, and then cooled, the second resin layer reversibly expands and shrinks. During the expansion and shrinkage of the second resin layer, the metal layer in contact with the second resin layer plastically deforms, and minute uneven patterns are formed. The minute uneven patterns function as a diffraction gratin which presents rainbow color appearances irrespective of observing directions.
