Abstract:
Abstract:
A dolly (1) is described for tyres (5) which comprises a frame (2) with struts (3, 6, 12) identifying a housing for tyres (5), an end (32) of which is intended to support support means (4) for said tyres (5). A first pair of arms (18) integral with each other and ending with first wheels (19), and a second pair of arms (30) integral with each other and ending with second wheels (40) are rotatingly constrained at an end (181, 301) at a fulcrum (15), to said struts (6) in median position and at the part opposite to said support means (4). Said dolly (1) is tillable between a first essentially vertical position in which said first pair of arms (18) and said struts (6) are essentially parallel to and integral with each other, and a horizontal position in which said second pair of arms (30) is at a preset angular distance from said first pair of arms (18) no longer integral with and parallel to said struts (6) so that said wheels (19, 40) rest on the ground while the housing of the tyres (5) is essentially horizontal.
Abstract:
A wheeled hand truck installs, removes, and transports rim-mounted tires and brake drums for vehicles. The truck comprises an elongated frame and extended fork section supported by a transverse axle having wheels at the ends bracketing the frame. The frame includes a handle section extending opposite the fork section that terminates in a grip. The fork section extends opposite the handle for straddling beneath a tire or drum on both sides of its center of gravity. The tire rests against the handle portion and fork, while the drum is mounted in a movable cylinder. The tire or drum is transported by balancing the weight of the tire on the wheels while pushing on the grip. The truck also has an extended lift step for providing leverage, a kickstand, an oil catch pan for brake drum drips, and grab pins for spoke-type hub and drum assemblies.
Abstract:
An apparatus for positioning a wheel relative to a wheel hub disposed on a vehicle for attachment comprising a holding platform (13) for releasably holding the wheel, and a lever (20) coupled to the holding platform (13), wherein, by applying force to the lever (20), the holding platform (13) is able to be controllably positioned in a substantially vertical orientation relative to the wheel hub, whereby a wheel resting on the holding platform (13) is able to be brought into substantially vertical alignment with the wheel hub for attachment.
Abstract:
Abstract:
An apparatus (10) for fitting and/or removing wheel nuts. The apparatus (10) includes a base structure that supports a movable wheel engaging portion, the wheel engaging portion including a socket wrench (23) and a positioning device, wherein the positioning device can be used to locate the wheel engaging portion to aid the socket wrench (23) to fit or remove a wheel nut.
Abstract:
A stillage for aircraft tyred wheels (2) and the like said stillage comprising a chassis (1) having a footprint adapted to accommodate one or a plurality of said wheels mounted in a substantially vertical orientation, one or a plurality of tyre seats (3) formed in the general curvature of said tyred wheel and positioned at or near the floor (4) of said chassis for receiving said wheel, at least one folding arm (5) cooperating with said chassis and being movable between a first open position allowing free placement and removal of said wheel from the stillage and a second closed position engaging said wheel and locking same to said stillage wherein said stillage includes transverse access cavities (7) positioned either side of said wheel between said mounted wheel and said chassis floor sufficient to accommodate a tyred wheel charging and lifting jig (21) such that said jig and said stillage can cooperate to allow said wheels to be fitted to and removed from said stillage by said jig.

Abstract:
A wheel manipulator (1) has a wheeled, U-shaped frame (5) with thereon a vertical guide (7) along which a support (13) can be pushed. There is a ring-shaped disc (19) supported on bearings on the support (13), which can be turned manually. Three shafts (21) are supported on bearings on the disc, on which chain wheels (23) and arms (25) are fastened. A chain (27) is wrapped around the chain wheels (23). Securing elements (33) are fastened on the free extremities (25b) of the arms to secure the wheel (3). The chain (27) with the chain wheels (23) and the hydraulic cylinder (29) form devices for the synchronous turning of the arms (25). There is a large circular opening (41) in the centre of the support (13). The middle of the wheel (3) is freely accessible through this opening (41), so that the wheel nuts and bolts can be easily undone or fastened.
Abstract:
A method of and apparatus for assembling an aircraft wheel or brake (10) component on an axle (26) of an undercarriage in which a holder (12) is provided for the component along with a lifting device (28). The lifting device is used to lift the holder with the component therein to a position where the component is substantially in axial alignment with the axle. Once in that position, assembly of the component on the axle can take place by moving the component axially on to the axle. The holder can then be lowered away from the assembled component.
