Abstract:
A load sensing system for a wheelchair lift arrangement includes an elongated member that is rotatable about a longitudinal axis between an unloaded position and a loaded position; a biasing member that biases the elongated member toward the unloaded position; at least one contact member connected to the elongated member and configured to contact a bridge plate; and a switch assembly operatively connected to the elongated member, the switch assembly being configured to be activated to prevent operation of the wheelchair lift arrangement when the elongated member is in the loaded position. A method of regulating movement of a lift platform of a wheelchair lift arrangement is also provided.
Abstract:
A ramp assembly includes a ramp movable between a deployed position, a stowed position, and an intermediate position and a drive mechanism comprising a motor configured to move the ramp between the deployed position and the stowed position. The motor has a shunted mode and a non-shunted mode. The assembly further includes a first detecting arrangement configured to detect a position of the ramp and a second detecting arrangement configured to detect a direction of movement of the ramp, with the motor being placed in one of the shunted mode and the non-shunted mode based on the position and the direction of movement of the ramp.
Abstract:
A foldable ramp for evacuation of a vehicle, the ramp including hingedly connected primary and secondary side members, a primary fixed panel fixedly attached the primary side members, a primary flipping panel extending between the primary side members adjacent the primary fixed panel and having a first end pivotally connected to the primary side members and a second end free from the side members, and a secondary flipping panel extending between the secondary side members and having a first end free from the side members and hingedly connected to the second end of the primary flipping panel and a second end pivotally connected to the secondary side members. The ramp is configurable between a folded and a deployed position, with the panels in the deployed position forming a ramp surface and the panels in the folded position being stacked one against the other.
Abstract:
A motorcycle carrier which provides a ramp which operates between a stowed condition and an inclined condition to allow location of a motorcycle in the open space established between a truck coupled to a trailer.
Abstract:
An access system for a vehicle includes a gateway module that connects to the vehicle data bus, and an interface system coupled to the gateway module via a gateway bus. The interface system is also coupled to a ramp control subsystem that operates to stow and deploy a ramp for providing wheelchair access to the vehicle. A door control subsystem is coupled to the vehicle data bus and operates in response to data signals sent over the vehicle data bus. The gateway module is configured to relay signals relating to the status of the ramp from the gateway bus to the vehicle data bus to coordinate operation of the door and the ramp.
Abstract:
A vehicle is provided having a cargo area, a passenger compartment, and detachable dual-use platform (308) which is connectable to the cargo area (20) to form a ramp, and to the underside (51) of the vehicle to form a running board. The platform is supported by brackets (40) at either end when used as a running board, and includes an internal locking mechanism. A platform apparatus is also provided for accessing the vehicle, including a first locator portion that is adjacent to the cargo area (20), and a dual-use platform portion having a step surface on one side and a second locator portion on an opposite side. The locator portions are mutually engageable to secure the platform (308) to the cargo area (20). A method is also provided for accessing the vehicle, including configuring a platform (308) for alternate attachment adjacently to the passenger compartment (13) as a running board and adjacently to the cargo area (20) as a ramp.
Abstract:
An electrically powered vehicle transportation system utilizes a guideway (31) with parallel enclosed rails (33). Each enclosed rail (33) has an electrical bus bar (21a) for supplying power to vehicles (11) on the guideway (31). The guideway (31) will accommodate dual-mode vehicles (11) that are capable of usage on conventional streets as well as on the guideway (31). The guideway (31) also accommodates conventional vehicles (131) and ferries (113) that operate only on the guideway (31). The dual mode vehicle (11) has a body with axles (19) that are extensible. The axles (19) move from a retracted position, with the wheels (17) recessed within the wheel wells (15), to an extended position. In the extended position, the wheels (17) locate within the enclosed rails (33). Conventional vehicles (131) and freight (169) are carried on ferries (113) that move along the guideway (31).
Abstract:
Abstract:
An accessibility system for providing access into or out of a vehicle includes a pan defining a securement area. The pan includes a first end, a second end, and a support surface. A ramp assembly includes a first segment and a second segment hingedly coupled to the first segment. The ramp assembly is pivotally coupled to and deployable from the pan near the second end. A tailgate assembly is detachably secured and pivotally coupled to the pan such that during deployment of the ramp assembly, the ramp assembly is pivotable about a first axis and the tailgate assembly is pivotable about a second axis parallel to and offset from the first axis.
