Abstract:
The present invention relates to a novel vehicle (100) powered by one or more portable energy storage devices (102-1,102-2). Said energy storage devices (102-1,102-2) are housed within a housing assembly (104), wherein said housing assembly (104) comprises a housing frame (106) secured to a frame of said vehicle (108), one or more receptacles, (110-1, 110-2), pivotally secured to said housing frame (106) by securing/pivot means, and one or more movement controllers (112-1, 112-2). The present invention allows receiving, retaining and/ or removing of said portable energy storage devices (102-1,102-2) thus allowing swapping of said one or more portable energy storage devices with ergonomic ease and at the same time without requiring the rider to alight from said vehicle (100) and without compromising on the weight distribution and handling of said vehicle (100).
Abstract:
Provided are battery coupling systems. The system may comprise a first terminal electrically coupled to a vehicle electrical system; and a first contactor electrically coupled to a first battery connection of a battery and the first terminal, the first contactor comprising a first solid state switch for selectively coupling and decoupling the first battery connection to and from the first terminal, using a first control signal. The system may also comprise a second terminal electrically coupled to the vehicle electrical system; and a second contactor electrically coupled to a second battery connection of the battery and the second terminal, the second contactor comprising a second solid state switch for selectively coupling and decoupling the second battery connection to and from the second terminal, using a second control signal.
Abstract:

Abstract:
There is provided a commercial refrigerator vehicle(10; 110) for the transport of refrigerated produce, the commercial refrigerator vehicle (10; 110) comprising a wheeled chassis(12; 112), a cab (14; 114) mounted on the wheeled chassis (12; 112), an internal combustion engine(44; 144) having an output for driving one or more wheels (46) of the wheeled chassis(12; 112), a refrigerator compartment (16) on the wheeled chassis (12; 112) for the storage of produce to be refrigerated, and a refrigerator system (80) for controlling interior temperature of the refrigerator compartment(16). The refrigerator system (80) includes a refrigeration unit(76; 176)for discharging refrigerated air into the refrigerator compartment (16), a dedicated rechargeable electrical energy storage device (58; 158) housed in the cab (14; 114) for supplying electrical energy to the refrigeration unit (76; 176), a vehicle battery pack (50; 150) chargeable directly or indirectly via the internal combustion engine(44; 144),and a charger (68; 168) for charging the dedicated rechargeable electrical energy storage device (58; 158) via the vehicle battery pack (50; 150). The charger(68; 168)preferably includes a controller (70; 170) for monitoring an activation status of the internal combustion engine (44; 144) and electrically disconnects the vehicle battery pack (50; 50) from the dedicated rechargeable electrical energy storage device (58; 158) when the internal combustion engine(44; 144) is deactivated. There is further provided a (20) method of charging the refrigerator system (80) via the electrical energy storage device (44; 144).
