Abstract:
A ship comprising a hull (100) having a transom (106) and a bottom (102), and an azimuthing propulsion unit (110) arranged to the bottom of the ship hull, which azimuthing propulsion unit comprises a propeller (118). The azimuthing propulsion unit (110) comprises an exposed operation mode in which the propeller (118) sets, behind the transom (106) of the hull (100) and that the azimuthing propulsion unit (110) is rotatable and comprises a protected position mode in which the azimuthing propulsion unit (110) stays below the hull (100) of the ship.
Abstract:
A vessel, including a transom for mounting outboard engines thereto, is spanned on opposite sides by aft-facing hull extensions which extend beyond the engines and allow a swim platform to be positioned between the hull extensions. The design allows the outboard engines to be covered with an engine cover, which provides an attractive vessel design in which the outboard engines can be concealed with a cover, which may serve other functions, such as a seat or the like. The cover houses an engine cowl mist shield which includes a support frame surrounding one or more outboard engines. The frame includes aperture(s) with edges spaced from the cowl and a flexible member extending from the edges to the cowl below the air intake of the cowl, such that spray and mist from the operation of the vessel does not reach the air intake of the cowl.
Abstract:
An arrangement and a method for installing a propulsion unit to a hull of a ship. The propulsion unit comprises an upper part of the propulsion unit attachable to the hull of the ship and a lower part of the propulsion unit where to a propeller shaft is rotatably supported, and the upper part of the propulsion unit having flanges to attach the flanges tightly to the hull, and wherein there is an aperture in bottom of hull where to the propulsion unit is to be installed. The arrangement comprises a plurality of watertight covers (32, 34) covering openings (24, 28) in the bottom of hull and a plurality of watertight covers (50, 52) covering openings (46,48) in the top of the upper part of the propulsion unit, wherein the arrangement comprises a removable hull-side cover (32) covering at least the opening (24) under it, and at least one removable propulsion unit side cover (50) covering the opening (46) under it and facing the opening (24), and the removable covers (32, 34, 50, 52) are bolted from the hull-side.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a frame for a water-jet propulsion unit, which is arranged to be installed and sealed into an installation opening (14) for a water-jet propulsion unit (16) belonging to a boat (12), which frame (15) includes a flow channel (26) for guiding water to the impeller (24) belonging to the water-jet propulsion unit (16), a maintenance opening (28) located on top of the said flow channel (26), for servicing the impeller (24), and a sealing surface (33) forming a closed loop for attaching the water-jet propulsion unit (16) tightly to the counter-sealing surface (32) belonging to the boat (12). The frame (15) includes, in addition, an additional sealing surface (34) for forming a second closed loop arranged to be. used in attaching the water-jet propulsion unit (16) to the boat (12), in such a way that the maintenance opening (28) of the, frame (15) is situated alternatively inside or outside the stern (44) belonging to the boat (12). The invention also relates to a corresponding water-jet propulsion unit equipped with the frame of a water-jet propulsion unit, and an arrangement in. a boat.
Abstract:
A propulsion assembly of a ship or floating platform (1) uncommonly capable of a simple construction and reduced overall dimensions, comprises: - a hull insert (2), or trunk, forming a housing (3), or propeller case, located within a hull (4) of a ship or platform; said housing (3) being a housing watertight with respect to the hull in all the walls (5) thereof, except for an opening (6) opening externally to the hull (4) of the ship or platform; - a motor (7); - said motor (7) being arranged in said hull (4), but externally to said housing (3), and being arranged stationary with respect to said hull (4); - a thruster (8), for example, a propeller foot; said thruster (8) being suitable to be arranged externally to said hull (4) to generate a propulsion thrust on said ship or floating platform; - a telescopic driving shaft (9); - said telescopic driving shaft (9) passing sealingly through one of the walls (5) of said housing (3) to operatively connect said motor (7) and said thruster (8) and to transmit the movement from the motor to the thruster for the movement of said thruster (8); said thruster (8) being retractable within said housing (3) passing through said opening (6); - a submersible movable hatch (10) in a separate piece and completely disconnectable from said thruster (8) and said housing (3); - said movable hatch (10) being suitable to associate externally to said housing (3), passing externally to said hull (4), and sealingly close said opening (6) of said housing (3), closing said housing (3) and forming a watertight closed chamber (11) with respect to the outside of said hull (4); - a fluid evacuation device (12) for evacuating fluid (13) that is present within said closed chamber (11) so as to arrange said thruster (8), when retracted in said housing (3) closed by said hatch to form said closed chamber, at least partially in air.
