Abstract:
A dispensing spigot (16) for a fluid container having a spout (14), the spigot including a peripheral wall (22) adapted to fit within and seal against the spout (14), and a transverse wall (24) for closing off the spigot (16). The spigot (16) also includes a toggle member (26) extending forward of the transverse wall (24). The transverse wall (24) includes a radial portion (32) and a portion (34) radially inclined forward of the radial portion, and the toggle member (26) occupies the radial portion (32) such that the toggle member (26), when manipulated by a user, pivots at the juncture of the radial portion (32) with the inclined portion (34), the juncture being at about the horizontal centre-line of the .transverse wall (24), to distort the transverse wall (24) and a front portion (28) of the peripheral wall (22) to permit dispensing of the fluid within the container.
Abstract:
A dispensing apparatus comprising a spout and a spigot. The spout includes a tubular member. The tubular member includes a first end, a second end, an inside surface and an opening extending transversely through the tubular member between the first and second end thereof The tubular member defines a cavity capable of receiving a flowable material therein. The spigot is attached to the inside surface of the tubular member. The spigot includes a peripheral wall, a transverse wall and a handle. The peripheral wall includes an outer surface positionable over the opening. The transverse wall is coupled to the peripheral wall. The peripheral wall and the transverse wall cooperating to substantially seal the first end of the tubular member and the opening from the cavity of the tubular member. The handle is associated with at least one of the peripheral wall and the transverse wall. The handle member is capable of elastically deforming the outer surface of the peripheral wall to, in turn, place the opening in fluid communication with the cavity, while maintaining the substantial seal of the first end of the tubular member.
Abstract:
There is provided, for a container having a cylindrical outlet, a one-piece deformable dispensing closure (10) in the form of a cap including a circular end wall (12) having a depending peripheral shirt (14) for securing it to the outlet. The end wall (12) includes a scoreline which defines a segment intersecting a portion of the end wall (12). A complex hollow seal, (32) positioned and sized for insertion into the container outlet, depends from the inner surface of the end wall (12). When inward pressure is exerted on the outer surface of the end wall (12) a portion of the end wall (12) within the scoreline is moved inwardly, moving with it a portion of the seal (32) and tapered lip (32) which is in registration therewith. This serves to release the moved portion of tapered lip (34) from its sealing relation with the internal surface of the container outlet, while the portion of the seal (32) and tapered lip which are outside of the scoreline remain in sealing relation with the outlet. When inward pressure on the end wall (12) is terminated the inwardly moved portion of the end wall (12) and seal (32) move outward and return the moved portion of the tapered lip (34) to its normal sealing relation with the outlet. A modified form of the closure (10) which is lockable and child resistant is also taught.
Abstract:
A drink-through lid for a beverage container. The lid provides a drink outlet that allows liquid to fill a drink well base, from which a consumer may sip a beverage similar to using an open top cup or mug. The lid is provided with a flexible structure which may be reversibly positionable between a drink outlet closed position and a drink outlet open position. In an embodiment, an outer or distal end of the flexible structure may be moved to a spill resistant position, wherein the outer end of the flexible structure substantially prevents splash of liquid outward from the beverage container thought the drink outlet, even when the flexible structure is in the open position. The flexible structure may include multiple panels and hinges which allow downward and upward movement by manual manipulation, to enable a user to open and close the drink outlet.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A liquid dispensing cover (10, 10', 10") for a container (16) has a dispensing recess (32, 32', 224) extending into a cover top wall (26, 216) thereof. The dispensing recess (32, 32', 224) is resiliently openable and closable to enable placement of cover (10, 10', 10") into a closed configuration (52, 236), in which the dispensing recess (32, 32', 224) is closed, and an open configuration (54, 238) in which the dispensing recess (32, 32', 224) is open to allow flow of liquid (L) through the dispensing recess (32, 32', 224) for drinking.
Abstract:
An apparatus is provided for containing a fluid, and for controlling the release and flow of the fluid. The apparatus includes a container having a mouth, a neck with a circumferential sealing region on its inner surface, a body, and a resistance stop. The apparatus further includes a barrier .flap which can significantly arc transverse to its length, disposed within the neck of the container, and hingedly pivot between "open" and "closed" positions. The barrier flap is cooperative with the circumferential-sealing region and the resistance stop within the neck. Squeezing the body increases internal pressure within the container, resulting in a release of the barrier flap past the resistance stop, allowing the fluid to flow out of the container. Also, squeezing the neck causes arcing and release of the barrier flap, allowing the fluid held in the container to flow past the barrier flap and out of the container.
Abstract:
An in-mold label dispenser (10) for supplying labels to a plastic blow molding machine (12) is disclosed as having a dispensing head (36) on which a first locator (40) is mounted so as to be movable from a withdrawn position at one side of the mold (14) to an inserted position between open mold sections (16) and into engagement with a second locator (42) mounted at the other side of the mold (14). The engagement of the first and second locators (40, 42) from opposite sides of the mold (14) provides accurate location of the dispensing head (36) during movement from a mold aligned position to a label transfer position to provide transferring of the labels (34) to the mold (14) from one or more label magazines (30). First and second supports (48, 50) on which the locators (40, 42) are mounted are moved by first and second actuators (52, 54) to provide the movement between the mold aligned and label transfer positions.
