The invention relates to a self-adjusting processing system for sheet material. A self-adjusting processing system for sheet material comprises a guiding device for sheet material having a main transport and a redirecting device for sheet material having a branch transport in association with the main transport to redirect the sheet material. The redirecting device further has fixed rollers (4) adopted to interact with the branch transport and floating members (3), the fixed rollers and the floating members are positioned at opposite sides of the branch transport and each floating member is adopted to be aligned with appropriate fixed roller. The redirecting device further comprises fixing means (5, 7, 9) for fixing the floating members' position relative to the fixed rollers, releasing means (8) for releasing the floating members' position relative to the fixed rollers, and a first actuating means (6) for moving the floating members towards the fixed rollers till the floating members engage the fixed rollers and backwards from the fixed rollers. Also provided is a method of processing of a piece of sheet material with the self-adjusting processing device of the present invention. The processing system and the method can be used with any sheet materials, advantageously with banknotes.

The invention relates to a method in the splicing of a fibrous web, in particular a paper or board web in a continuous unwind, in which a new machine reel (13) brought to the unwind is connected at full speed with a web (W) of an expiring machine reel (10) by means of a splicing device. The web (W) of the expiring machine reel (10) is pressed by means of a paster roll (12) of the splicing device to a splice placed on the new machine reel (13). In the method, the paster roll (12) is moved during a sequence by means of an actuator (16) whose position is measured by means of a position sensor (18) and whose force is measured by means of a force sensor (17). Based on information obtained from the sensors (17, 18), at least one parameter, i.e. force and/or position and/or speed and/or acceleration, of the splicing stroke and/or the return stroke of the sequence of the paster roll (12) is regulated. The invention also relates to a device in the splicing of a fibrous web, in particular a paper or board web in a continuous unwind. The device includes a paster roll (12) and a web guide roll (11) as well as a frame structure (30). The paster roll (12) is connected by means of an actuator (16) to the frame structure (30). A force sensor (17) and a position sensor (18) for measuring parameters of the splicing stroke and/or the return stroke of a splicing sequence and a regulation and control system for controlling the actuator (16) accomplishing the splicing stroke and/or the return stroke of the splicing sequence based on measurement results given by the sensors (17, 18) are arranged in connection with the paster roll (12).

Bei einem Verfahren zur Ermittlung eines Verlaufs für einen zu erwartenden Spannungsabfall einer Bahn in einer Druckeinheit werden zunächst ohne Farbe und Feuchtmittel in Druck-An-Stellung vor und hinter der Druckeinheit im wesentlichen die selben Spannungen (S) eingestellt, anschliessend Farbe und ggf. Feuchtmittel zugeschaltet, nach Erreichen im wesentlichen stationärer Bedingungen ein Wert für die Spannung (S) hinter der Druckeinheit gemessen, und schließlich anhand mindestens eines der in dieser Weise gewonnenen Paare für die Spannungswerte (S) durch zumindest abschnittsweise Linearisierung einer Spannungs-Dehnungs-Abhängigkeit ein fiktiver Verlauf für den durch die Feuchtung in der Druckeinheit verursachten Spannungsabfall in Abhängigkeit von einer Spannung festgelegt. Dieser Verlauf kann in einem Verfahren zur Einstellung der Spannung vor und/oder nach der Druckeinheit herangezogen werden.

The apparatus (200) and method may provide improved process control, product quality, manufacturing production rate and/or process repeatability. The apparatus (200) and method provide more consistent finished log properties by measuring at least one process parameter during the manufacturing process. The process parameter is then correlated with the desired finished product characteristics and an appropriate correction is made to the reference profile.
