Beansprucht wird die Verwendung einer nach dem Aushärten flexiblen Dichtschlämme, enthaltend als Komponente a) ein System mit einem Anteil an hydraulischem Bindemittel und als Komponente b) einen elastifizierenden Kunststoff zur flächendeckenden Nachbehandlung eines Betonkörpers mit einer Restfeuchte von > 2 CM-%. Die beanspruchten Dichtschlämmen, die als Komponente a) vorzugsweise einen Zementmörtel enthalten und als Komponente b) ein Homo-, Co-oder Terpolymerisat in bevorzugter Form einer flüssigen Polymerdispersion, bewirken eine höhere Festigkeit und einen geringeren Schwund der mit ihr behandelten Betonkörperoberfläche. Die damit behandelten Betonkörper sind insbesondere im Nass-beanspruchten Bereich gegen Sickerwasser, drückendes Wasser und Spritzwasser geschützt.

The present invention relates to a product (1) so arranged as to reduce the occurrence of so-called lime precipitation in connection with the application of rendering, surface colour finish or a combined product thereof, containing a hydraulic binding agent, to a facade (2) or some other similar surface, and as to permit the appropriately slow binding of the substances present in the product (1) in order to permit its manageable application along the intended application surface. The following are included in same according to the invention: a rapid-binding binding agent in the form of aluminous cement, preferably Lafarge SEC 71, at a level of 5-30 percent by weight and filler at a level of 60-95 percent by weight. The binding process of the product is slow, in spite of the normally rapid-binding characteristics of the binding agent. The absent or low lime-precipitation characteristic of the binding agent is also utilized.

Cement compositions are used to form skins on ceramic honeycombs, or to cement smaller honeycombs to other honeycombs or other materials to form assemblies. The cement composition contains an inorganic filler, and either colloidal silica, colloidal alumina, or both. The inorganic filler and the colloidal materials individually or collectively supply silicon and aluminum atoms. The cement composition is fired in the presence of a fluorine source. A preferred fluorine source is residual fluorine that is contained in an acicular mullite honeycomb. Residual fluorine is released during the firing step, and facilitates the production of mullite in the cement composition as it is fired.

An improved ceramic crucible is described. The crucible is a yttrium oxide based ceramic coated crucible comprising a crucible comprising a sintered ceramic of 40-60 wt% alumina and 40-60 wt% aluminosilicate. A yttrium oxide based ceramic coating is on at least a portion of a surface of the crucible wherein the yttrium oxide based ceramic coating comprises a first zone closest to the crucible and a second zone with the first zone between the second zone and the crucible. The first zone is relatively alumina rich, and preferably comprises YAG, and the second zone is silica bearing.

The present invention provides methods and compounds for the direct sequestration of chloride ions without requiring the addition of a source of anion such as nitrite or nitrate. A direct sequestration additive is introduced to fresh concrete or hardened concrete where the additive reacts with incoming chloride ions to form a low solubility, chloride-containing compound which captures or sequesters chloride ions. In a preferred embodiment, the chloride-containing compound comprises 3CaO Fe (2-x ) AlxO 3 CaCl 2 nH 2 O , where x ranges from about (0) to (1.4), and n ranges from about (8) to (24). The chloride ions may be provided in the form of deicing salt or sea water. Because chloride-containing compounds such as 3CaO Fe (2-x) Al x O 3 CaCl 2 nH 2 O are formed directly without requiring the addition of a source of anion (e.g. nitrite or nitrate), the process is referred to as "direct sequestration".
