Verfahren zur Trennung eines Gemisches von Stoffen A und B durch Extraktivdestillation unter Verwendung eines Extraktionsmittels mit einer höheren Affinität zu B als zu A, wobei man einen A und B enthaltenden Zulaufstrom dem Extraktionsmittel in einer Kolonne (3) entgegenführt, wobei eine A enthaltende Kopffraktion (6) sowie eine B und Extraktionsmittel enthaltende Flüssigfraktion erhalten wird, die Flüssigfraktion auf einem Sammelboden (7) sammelt und in einem ersten indirekten Wärmetauscher (9) erwärmt und teilweise verdampft, den entstehenden Dampf in die Kolonne (3) freisetzt und einen nicht verdampften Anteil der Flüssigfraktion als Sumpffraktion (11) im Sumpf der Kolonne sammelt, die Sumpffraktion nacheinander in einem zweiten indirekten Wärmetauscher (13) und einem dritten indirekten Wärmetauscher (14) erwärmt und teilweise verdampft, wobei der entstehende Dampf mindestens teilweise in die Kolonne freigesetzt wird, die Sumpffraktion in einem Stripper (32) in eine B enthaltende Fraktion (33) und eine Extraktionsmittelfraktion auftrennt, die Extraktionsmittelfraktion als Heizmedium für den zweiten Wärmetauscher nutzt, wobei eine teilweise abgekühlte Extraktionsmittelfraktion erhalten wird, und ein externes Heizmedium für den dritten Wärmetauscher verwendet, und die teilweise abgekühlte Extraktionsmittelfraktion als Heizmedium für den ersten Wärmetauscher (9) nutzt.

A process for extracting isoprene from a pyrolysis gas mixture or a C5 fraction wherein isoprene is purified by plural extractive distillations in the presence of a polar solvent and cyclopentadiene is effectively removed and recycled as a feedstock without being converted into its dimer, dicyclopentadiene. The isoprene recovered from the process described is more than 99.5% pure.

The first and second effluents may be compressed and fed to a common separation train to separate the effluents into two or more fractions. In some embodiments, each of the first and second dehydrogenation reaction zones may include two reactors, one reactor in each of the reaction zones operating in a dehydrogenation cycle, one operating in a regeneration cycle, and one operating in a purge or evacuation/reduction cycle. Operation of the reactors in the dehydrogenation cycle is staggered, such that the purge cycle, regeneration cycle, or evacuation/reduction cycle of the reactors may not overlap.

A process is described for making renewable isobutene and renewable isoprene, comprising converting a mixed acid feed including acetic acid and propionic acid to a product mixture including isobutene and at least one or both of 2-methyl-1-butene and 2-methyl-2-butene in the presence of a catalyst, separating isobutene from the product mixture and dehydrogenating either or both of the 2-methyl-1-butene and 2-methyl-2-butene in the remainder to provide isoprene.
