The present invention provides a solid organomagnesium precursor having formula {Mg(OR')X}.a{MgX2}.b{Mg(OR')2}.c{R'OH}, wherein R' is selected from a hydrocarbon group, X is selected from a halide group, and a:b:c is in range of 0.01-0.5 : 0.01 - 0.5 : 0.01 - 5 and process for preparing the same, said process comprising contacting a magnesium source with a solvating agent, an organohalide and an alcohol to obtain the solid organomagnesium precursor. The present invention also provides a process for preparing a catalyst system using the organomagnesium precursor and its use thereof for polymerization of olefins. The organomagnesium precursor is prepared as follows: At 0°C, magnesium in diethyl ether is reacted with the organohalide. After all magnesium has reacted, the calculated amount of alcohol was added and after the completion of addition, the ether was evaporated and a solid compound obtained.

The present invention relates to a high activity olefin polymerization catalyst comprising a boron-containing silica support and the preparation thereof. This invention is characterized in that the support is heat treated in combination with a chemical treatment using a boron compound. The boron compound used in the chemical treatment of this invention is boron halide, preferably boron trichloride. The catalyst of this invention has the weight of boron comparing with the support is 0.5 to 0.7% and has the weight of the boron relative to the catalyst of 0.1 to 0.5%. The catalyst of this invention has chemical compositions comprising: - Boron 0.1-0.5% wt; - Titanium 4-6% wt; - Magnesium 2-6% wt; - Chloride 15-25% wt.

A monomer stream containing propylene is supplied to a polymerization reactor which is operated under temperature and pressure conditions effective for the production of a stereoregular propylene polymer fluff. A titanium-based supported Ziegler-Natta catalyst having a titanium content of at least 1.7% wt.% and incorporating an internal electron donor is incorporated into the monomer stream. A trialkylaluminum co-catalyst is supplied to the monomer stream in an amount to provide an aluminum/titanium molar ratio within the range of 50-500. A silicon-based external electron donor is also supplied to the monomer stream in an amount to provide an aluminium/silicon molar ratio within the range of 10-500. Polymer fluff recovered from the polymerization reactor has melt flow rate of at least 200 grams/10 minutes, and a xyleme soluble content of no more than 4 wt.%.

The invention relates to catalyst components, suitable for the preparation of homopolymers and copolymers of ethylene having a broad molecular weight distribution (MWD), which comprise Ti, Mg, Cl, and are characterized by the following properties: surface area, determined by BET method, of lower than 100 m /g, a total porosity, measured by the mercury method, of higher than 0.25 cm /g, a pore radius distribution such that at least 45% of the total porosity is due to pores with radius up to 0.1 mu m.
