Abstract:
The invention provides a method for preparing zinc glycerolate comprising reacting a zinc compound with glycerine wherein the zinc compound is selected from the group consisting of hydrozincite and zinc oxide prepared by calcining hydrozincite.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a catalytic system based on rare earth and magnesium and its use for polymerising unsaturated compounds. The inventive catalytic system is characterised in that it comprises a compound consisting of the reaction product between: a rare earth alcoholate; an organo-magnesium. The alcoholate can be prepared in particular by reacting a rare earth halide with an alkaline or alkaline-earth alcoholate. The invention also concerns a neodymium alcoholate characterised in that the alcoholate is a tert-butylate or a tert-amylate and it does not contain chlorine in its structure. The inventive system can be used more particularly for polymerising methyl ethylene or methacrylate and for copolymerising them.
Abstract:
A process for the preparation of a zinc-containing polymeric material which process includes providing a divalent metal compound including zinc; a polyhydroxy compound; and a catalyst; mixing the divalent metal compound and the polyhydroxy compound in substantially stoichiometric amounts in the presence of the catalyst at a temperature sufficient to allow reaction therebetween; and isolating the polymeric material so formed.
Abstract:
A method for synthesizing highly soluble metal alkoxides includes the step of reacting a tertiary alcohol having the formula (1): wherein R , R , and R are, independently, the same or different, an alkyl group, an alkenyl, an alkynyl group or an aryl group, and at least one of R , R , and R is a group of at least 3 carbon atoms, with at least a stoichiometric amount of a metal reagent. The metal reagent is generally a group I metal, a group II metal, zinc, a metal alloy of a group I metal, a metal alloy of a group II metal, a metal alloy of zinc, a compound of a group I metal, a compound of a group II metal or a compound of zinc.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for preparing indium alkoxides soluble in organic solvents. The preparation method consists in reacting an indium halide with a C3-C20 alcohol in the presence of a base having a pka > 10 and a low nucleophilicity, in anhydrous medium, under inert gas and in the presence of polar organic solvents. The invention allows to obtain with a high yield pure indium alkoxides.
Abstract:
Novel vicinal dioxyalkylene organometalates comprising a cation having hydrocarbyl-containing substituent. The vicinal dioxyalkylene organometalates can be reacted with water to yield alkylene glycols.
Abstract:
A solid fuel for use in fuel cells. The solid fuel includes solid oxygenates, and mixtures for generating a gaseous fuel from the solid fuel. The solid fuel can be contained in a cartridge and reacted with a liquid reactant for generating a gaseous fuel used in the fuel cell.
Abstract:
Spherical particles comprising magnesium alcoholate and having a poured cone height of less than 17 mm are prepared by reacting magnesium, an alcohol or a mixture of various alcohols and a halogen and/or an optionally organic halogen compound with one another at below the boiling point of the alcohols. The spherical particles are employed as a precursor for olefin polymerization catalysts.
