Mit dem erfindungsgemäß hergestellten Bindemittel lässt sich eine Vielzahl von Beschichtungsprodukten herstellen, die direkt und ohne jegliche chemische oder physikalische Vorbehandlung auf Kunststoffen haftet. Es lassen sich Grundierungen, Hochglanzlacke, Metalliclacke, Klarlacke, Effektlacke herstellen, die direkt auf Kunststoffe appliziert werden können was durch die nicht mehr erforderliche Vorbehandlung eine absolute Neuheit darstellt. Es können mit dem erfindungsgemäß hergestellten Bindemittel auch Klebstoffe formuliert werden, die eine sehr gute Verklebung zwischen Kunststoffen selbst und auch Kartonagen gewährleisten. Die Erfindung betrifft das Bindemittel, sowie darauf basierende Grundierungen, Einschichtlacke und Klebstoffe.

A lead-free composition comprising: (A) Polyvinyl chloride (PVC); (B) Bioplasticizer; (C) Calcium Carbonate; and (D) Calcined clay; with the combined weight of the calcium carbonate and calcined clay in the composition in the range of 1 to 15 weight percent, and the weight ratio of calcium carbonate to calcined clay in the range of 15:85 to 85: 15. In one embodiment the invention is an insulation sheath for a wire or cable made from the lead-free composition described in the preceding embodiment. In one embodiment the invention is a wire or cable comprising the insulation sheath of the preceding embodiment.

The invention relates to a composition [composition (C)] suitable for use as a primer coating, which comprises: at least one ethylene/chlorotrifluoroethylene (ECTFE) polymer comprising recurring units derived from ethylene (E) and from chlorotrifluoroethylene (CTFE); at least one epoxy resin; at least one oxide of cobalt, and, optionally, at least one oxide of zinc, wherein the composition (C) comprises more than 60% by weight of the at least one epoxy resin, with respect to the total weight of the composition (C). The primer coating composition made from the composition (C) is found to be particularly advantageous for the application as a primer on a galvanized steel surface, and can effectively bind its overlying topcoat with the galvanized steel surface.

The instant invention is an impact resistant rigid vinyl chloride polymer composition, and method of making the same. The impact resistant rigid vinyl chloride polymer composition, according to instant invention, includes a vinyl chloride polymer, an impact modifier, and a lubricant system. The impact modifier includes a chlorinated olefin polymer, and an ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer. The lubricant system includes a first component, a second component, and a third component. The first component is a carboxylic acid selected from the group consisting of stearic acid, lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, blends thereof, and combinations thereof. The second component is a hydrocarbon wax selected from the group consisting of a paraffin wax, polyolefin wax, blends thereof, and combinations thereof. The third component is a metal soap selected from the group consisting of calcium stearate, aluminum stearate, copper stearate, lithium stearate, magnesium stearate, sodium stearate, zinc stearate, blends thereof, and combinations thereof. The process for preparing the impact resistant rigid vinyl chloride polymer composition of the instant invention includes the following steps: (1) providing a vinyl chloride polymer; (2) providing an impact modifier as described above; (3) providing a lubricant system as described above; (4) blending the vinyl chloride polymer, the impact modifier, and the lubricant system thereby forming the impact resistant rigid vinyl chloride polymer composition.

The nanocomposite can be a mixture of a halogenated elastomer, an acid or acid anhydride modified polymer, and a clay, desirably an exfoliated clay, suitable for use as an air barrier. Also disclosed is a nanocomposite that can be a mixture of a halogenated elastomer, a polymer modified with a carboxylic acid, and an organoclay.
