Abstract:
Abstract:
A binder composition which can be coloured is disclosed. The binder composition comprises a petroleum solvent-extracted oil, a petroleum resin, hydrogenated thermoplastic elastomer and a detachment preventing agent. The binder compositions can be used at low temperatures and retain the strength needed in coloured paving.
Abstract:
The invention provides a polymer modified binder using an asphalt plant mix modifier comprising a mixture of thermoplastic polymers, comprising both elastomers and plastomers, blended with oils and dispersed in a powder medium to facilitate flow. The use of polymers in dry form has provides for a means of incorporating additives into asphalt that can be successfully performed within the normal range of temperatures used for the mixing and compaction of hot mix asphalt.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a modified bitumen composition comprising bitumen; crumb rubber; FCC spent catalyst; and optionally at least one low value polymer. The present invention also discloses a method for making a modified bitumen composition comprising heating bitumen to a temperature between about 120 degree C and about 200 degree C; adding FCC spent catalyst to the heated bitumen to obtain a mixture; optionally adding at least one low value polymer to the above mixture followed by homogenizing the mixture for about 30 minutes to about 10 hours; adding crumb rubber to the mixture; and homogenizing the resultant mixture for about 30 minutes to about 24 hours to obtain the modified bitumen.
Abstract:
This invention encompasses rubber modified asphalt cement compositions, as well as systems, apparatuses, methods for preparing, as well as methods for using rubber- modified asphalt cement compositions.
Abstract:
Asphalt compositions for roofing applications are provided, as well as filled asphalt material comprising the asphalt compositions and methods for making asphalt compositions and filled asphalt material. More particularly, the asphalt compositions 5 comprise non-oxidized base asphalt; and a low molecular weight polyolefin present in an amount of from about 0.5 to about 15 wt % based on the total weight of the asphalt composition. The asphalt composition has a softening point from about 87.8 to about 160 °C (about 190 to about 320 °F), a penetration of greater than 12 deci-millimeters °@ 25 °C, as well as improved stain resistance and heat resistance.
Abstract:
A pavement repair system is provided utilizing solid phase auto regenerative cohesion and homogenization by liquid asphalt oligopolymerization technologies. The system is suitable for use in repairing asphalt pavement, including pavement exhibiting a high degree of deterioration (as manifested in the presence of potholes, cracks, ruts, or the like) as well as pavement that has been subject to previous repair and may comprise a substantial amount of dirt and other debris (e.g., chipped road paint or other damaged or disturbed surfacing materials). A system utilizing homogenization by liquid asphalt oligopolymerization is suitable for rejuvenating or repairing aged asphalt, thereby improving properties of the paving material.
Abstract:
Stabilized bitumen compositions with improved properties are disclosed. The bitumen is stabilized by a composition comprising the mineral porcelanite and an activating agent. The compositions are stable and meet performance requirements according to national standards. The compositions have superior viscoelastic and anti-stripping properties and are more economical than existing stabilized bitumen compositions.
