The present invention relates to a method of using oil-contaminated drill cuttings from drilling operations in roads and primarily in gravel or dirt roads to provide dust suppression or as a component of the top course of a road. In particular, the invention relates to various compositions and processes in which drill cuttings are mixed with virgin aggregates, asphalt compounds and/or recycled hydrocarbons including recycled rubber from tires and recycled asphalt shingles for incorporation into a road bed to provide a structurally satisfactory road and/or dust suppression. The invention thereby provides an effective use of oil-contaminated drill cuttings that would otherwise require remediation or disposal at a landfill.

The invention is in a composition which is useful to dampen noise and vibrations which in composition can be applied to and adhered to a substrate. The composition comprises an emulsion or dispersion of asphalt in water and fillers. Preferably the fillers are alkaline earth metal or alkaline metal carbonates, or sulfates. In another embodiment, the invention is a process for applying a damping composition to a substrate which comprises contacting a composition of an emulsion of asphalt in water and a filler with a substrate. Preferably the asphalt emulsion on the surface of the substrate is exposed to a source of heat so as to dry the composition on the substrate. In a preferred embodiment the substrate is a surface in an automobile such as the floor-board, trunk well, wheel well, rocker panel or underbody.

A pavement repair system is provided utilizing solid phase auto regenerative cohesion and homogenization by liquid asphalt oligopolymerization technologies. The system is suitable for use in repairing asphalt pavement, including pavement exhibiting a high degree of deterioration (as manifested in the presence of potholes, cracks, ruts, or the like) as well as pavement that has been subject to previous repair and may comprise a substantial amount of dirt and other debris (e.g., chipped road paint or other damaged or disturbed surfacing materials). A system utilizing homogenization by liquid asphalt oligopolymerization is suitable for rejuvenating or repairing aged asphalt, thereby improving properties of the paving material.

The present invention further relates to emulsions comprising a (1→3)-β-D- glucan in an amount of 0.01 to 10 wt.%, based on the total weight of the emulsion.
