Abstract:
An offshore platform for use in combination with an offshore rig comprises an upper deck defining an upper deck aperture which is alignable with a rig aperture of the offshore rig, when said offshore rig extends over the upper deck, to permit objects to extend between the offshore rig and through the upper deck. The offshore platform further includes a sheath arrangement aligned with the upper deck aperture and extending upwardly relative to the upper deck to be alignable with the rig aperture, wherein the sheath arrangement defines a confinement zone for confining objects which pass downwardly from the offshore rig through the rig aperture.
Abstract:
A scour protection for an underwater bottom alongside a quay wall is disclosed. The scour protection comprises a foundation/leveling layer of rocks with a size distribution conforming to 100 n50
Abstract:
A biofouling removal mechanism(100) includes at least one cleaning element (102) configured to remove accumulated biofouling from a structure and a cleaning element support structure (116) attached to the cleaning element. The cleaning element support structure is configured to secure the cleaning element to the structure, to guide the cleaning element along the structure and to accommodate changes in at least one of a size and a shape of the structure as the cleaning element passes along the structure.
Abstract:
A leg mating unit for installation of offshore structures. A housing has a ram movably mounted in the housing. Elastomeric material is received in the housing immediately below the ram. An open space below the elastomeric material is filled with a disposable, granular material such as sand. A drain valve for selectively releasing the disposable material is provided on the housing. A load absorbing ring is engaged with the ram. A stop ring is rigidly mounted on the leg of the topside structure and engages the load absorbing ring during installation of the topside structure onto its lower supporting structure. The housing is removably mounted on the lower support structure such that the leg mating unit is removable and reusable.
Abstract:
A suction caisson system comprising a caisson body comprising an upper rim, a lower rim, and a weakened section positioned between the upper rim and the lower rim. The system further comprises a caisson cover constructed and arranged to detachably connect to the upper rim of the caisson body as well as a pump constructed and arranged to provide fluid to and from the interior of the caisson body. In the event the caisson body is impacted by an advancing ice keel, or other foreign object, the caisson body will be sheared at the weakened cross-section, thus protecting any subsea equipment positioned within the caisson body below the weakened section.
Abstract:
Compliant offshore platforms with isolated decks using one or more bearings located on a generally horizontal plane that is in proximity to the vertical center of gravity of the deck.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A barrier for stopping unwanted watercraft and subsurface intruders from entering into a port or off-shore structure is provided. In one embodiment, the invention is a barrier comprised of vertical supports, supported from the sea floor, and a net assembled between the vertical supports with a system of ropes and energy absorbing devices. The barrier is designed and configured in a manner as to absorb and displace the kinetic energy generated by an explosive laden small watercraft traveling at a high rate of speed. In another embodiment, invention is a barrier system, comprising a bottom founded perimeter fence having a gate system and a series of barriers. The barrier system is installed around the perimeter of a water side or offshore facility, which is designed to control access and to protect the water side or offshore facility from potential terrorism threats.
