The device comprises a single flexible cover having a shape of varying width, providing a shelter for an area and an automatic electronic retractable mechanism enabling to fold and unfold said cover. The width of the device is smaller than the maximum width of the cover at the unfolded position and the roof like structure device is supported only at one end. The retractable mechanism includes at least two supporting arms, which from a trapezoid form at the open position, wherein each arm is expanded at the open position and collapses at the closed position. The supporting arms may be constructed of at least two sets of interconnected bars, having a predefined two dimensional travel course stretching the cover forward and sidewards.

The invention relates to a blind, especially for covering a glass pane of a window. The blind has a winding rod (4) from which a wound-up hanging (5) can be wound down. In order to be able to use the blind for slanted and horizontal windows, two belts (2) are provided at the sides of the hanging (5), each of said belts turning about two end rollers (1). The winding rod is turned (4) synchronously with the turning movement of the belts (2). The front end of the hanging (5) is fixed to each of the two belts (2) at the side. Since the diameter of the wound hanging on the winding rod (4) gradually changes as the blind rolls down, a length compensation means is provided.

An annexe assembly is shown which has a support assembly attachable to the side of a caravan or the like and which supports the annexe cover as well as the folded annexe frame. The cover is tapered whereby it may roll upon a spool within the support assembly. The cover may be selectively extended from or retracted into said support assembly and the annexe frame is pivotally attached to the support assembly whereby it may be selectively moved between a stowed attitude substantially within or adjacent the support assembly and an erected attitude for supporting the extended covering.

Various embodiments of a rotatable awning assembly (20) with illumination are provided. An awning roller tube (56) includes an axial groove wherein a plurality of luminaires (55) are located for lighting of an area below and around an extended awning. The awning assembly (20) includes an electromechanical rotatable conductor (70) which provides electrical contact between a fixed portion of the awning assembly and the rotating awning roller tube. This allows for flow through of electricity or current to the luminaires and/or the awning motor internally through the roller tube.

The invention relates to an awning assembly having an awning (2), particularly a sun awning, fastened by the fixed end thereof to a shaft (1) on which it can be wound and unwound by means of an electrical motor, to the loose end (4) of which awning one end of a tensioning rope (3) is fastened. Essential to the invention is a second electrical motor which is synchronized to the first electrical motor and which drives a winding shaft to which the other end of the tensioning rope is fastened in order to wind or unwind it thereupon. A tensioning device engages on the tensioning rope (3), wherein gravity is utilized and particularly the tensioning device has a weight (9) to generate a constant rope tension.
