Abstract:
A process and system for electrolytic production ammonia. The process comprises feeding gaseous nitrogen to an electrolytic cell, where it comes in contact with a cathode electrode surface, wherein said surface has a catalyst surface comprising a nitride catalyst, said electrolytic cell comprising a proton donor, and running a current through said electrolytic cell, whereby nitrogen reacts with protons to form ammonia. The process and system of the invention uses an electrochemical cell with a cathode surface having a catalytic surface which is preferably charged with one or more of Vanadium nitride, Chromium nitride,Zirconium nitride, Niobium nitride, Iron nitride or Osmium nitride.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for treatment of a heated exhaust gas including hydrocarbons are provided. A method includes providing a first gas including a gaseous mixture of vaporized diesel fuel and steam and treating the first gas using at least one corona discharge including a combination of streamers to transform the first gas into a second gas including volatile partially oxidized hydrocarbons (PO-HC) and hydrogen gas (H2), the combination of streamers including primarily surface streamers. The method also includes extracting at least a portion of vaporized diesel fuel and steam from the second gas to form a third gas and directing a combination of the third gas and the exhaust gas into a nitrogen oxides (NOx) reduction reactor.
Abstract:
Method for the preparation of a wall flow particulate filter catalysed at its inlet side with a first catalyst having activity in the removal of residual hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide and catalysing at rich burn engine operation conditions the reaction of nitrogen oxides with hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide to ammonia and catalysed at its outlet side with a second catalyst having activity in the selective reduction of NOx by reaction with ammonia being formed in the inlet side. The method involves the provision of a first catalyst having a particle size larger than the filter wall mean pore size, and a second catalyst having a particle size smaller than the filter wall mean pore size, and mixing the first and second catalyst into one suspension, which is used for washcoating from the inlet end. The second catalyst thereby diffuses into the partition wall.
Abstract:
Abstract:
An aftertreatment module for use with an engine is disclosed. The aftertreatment module may have a plurality of inlets configured to direct exhaust in a first flow direction into the aftertreatment module. The aftertreatment module may also have a mixing duct configured to receive exhaust from the plurality of inlets, and a branching passage in fluid communication with the mixing duct. The branching passage may be configured to redirect exhaust from the mixing duct into separate flows that exit the aftertreatment module in a second flow direction opposite the first flow direction.
Abstract:
A method of operating an engine system comprising operating a first cylinder group at a first number of strokes per combustion cycle, operating a second cylinder group at a second number of strokes per combustion cycle, the second number of strokes per cycle being different than the first number of strokes per cycle.
