In addition, it minimizes the occurrence of cavitation within the pump housing, flow channels and passages.

In the pump of the present invention, a casing main body (110) is made of a waste tire. An inlet port unit (130) is installed at a first opening provided at a side of the waste tire, and a housing (120) is installed at a second opening provided at another side of the waste tire in such a way that an impeller (150) is set inside the casing main body (110). An outlet port unit (140) is installed at a predetermined portion of the waste tire, thus acting as an outlet port of the casing main body. A sub-vane (152) made of a waste tire is removably mounted to a main vane (151) of the impeller.

A liner for a centrifugal pump of the type made from wear resistant metal is conventional made with a step (5) in the inner surface of the liner between the junction of the side liners (2 and 3) and the volute liner (1), because of the difficulty in machining the hydraulic surface of the liner. This step (5) causes localized accelerated wear. The liner of the present invention is made with a thickening (11) of the area adjacent the joint with the side liners (2 and 3) which thickening protrudes inwardly beyond the inner surface of the side liners (2 and 3). Upon assembly the thickening (11) is reduced to align with the inner surface of the side liners (2 and 3), to reduce localized wear on the liner.

The chips composed of one of the two materials to be joined or of a third material are partially embedded into the surface of the first material when that material is formed so as to form surfaces which "overhang" the first material (134). Thereafter, the second material (12) is formed against the overhanging surfaces of the chips to establish the mechanical interlock. This technique is particularly useful in anchoring a dissimilar material to a polymeric material having poor bondability and/or a high melt temperature, for example fluoropolymers, as illustrated by the forming of a liner for a pump casing, or the like, by rotational molding. In that illustation, small particles and chips are distributed uniformly over the surface of an enclosed mold heated to melt the particles and fuse the chips thereto, and cooled to form a layer with the chips projecting therefrom so as to provide an interlock when a casing is formed against the liner. Other aspects of the present invention include the article of manufacture formed by the above method.
