A ring-shaped gasket for making high-purity fluid pathway connections between opposing fluid delivery apparatus elements having at least one simple flat surface in contact with the gasket. The face of at least one apparatus element typically has a circular counterbore depression to receive the gasket, but is not required. The gasket has a body, pierced through by a hole creating a fluid pathway and defining a radial inner surface, and additionally having a radial outer surface, a first axial end surface and a second axial end surface. At least one of the first and second axial end surfaces has a stress concentration feature radially adjacent to a gasket sealing region, the sealing region constructed to be in contact with a face surface of a corresponding fluid conduit port. The stress concentration feature may be a groove or a plurality of cavities disposed adjacent the gasket axial end surface sealing region.

A sealing element (100) for a fuel injector provided in a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine, said sealing element (100) comprising: a carrier element of a first material (110), where said carrier element is ring shaped with an upper essentially planar surface (112) and a lower essentially planar surface (114). A first gasket material (120a, 120b) is provided on a first portion of at least one of said upper or lower surfaces. A second gasket material (130a, 130b) is provided on a second portion of the at least one of said upper or lower surfaces where said first gasket material is provided, wherein said first gasket material (120a, 120b) is provided on an outer region of said planar surface of said ring shaped carrier element and said second gasket material (130a, 130b) is provided on an inner region of said planar surface of said ring shaped carrier element and where said second gasket material (130a, 130b) is softer than the first gasket material (120a, 120b).

L'invention concerne un dispositif d'étanchéité comprenant deux brides métalliques à faces en regard et entre lesquelles est interposé un joint métallique. Les brides comportent chacune une rainure (56, 58), ces rainures étant en regard, chaque rainure présentant, en section perpendiculaire aux faces en regard, ou faces actives, un côté (62) incliné par rapport à la face de la bride et un côté (60) sensiblement normal à la face active de la bride. Le joint métallique (66) présente en section une forme et des dimensions telles qu'il pénètre dans les deux rainures et que le serrage rapprochant les faces actives des brides applique à force ce joint métallique contre les deux faces de chacune des rainures.

A sealing system for a container (2) containing a fluid at high pressure, comprising a head (10) moving between a closed position and an open position of the container (2), a piston (12) for the pressurisation of the container (2) mounted to slide within the head (10) and sealing means adapted to prevent fluid from emerging from the pressurised container (2). These sealing means comprise an auxiliary cover (22) adapted to be interposed between the head (10) and the container (2), provided with an opening (24) in which the piston (12) may slide and a coinable gasket (28) associated with the opening (24) adapted after its coining to exert a sliding seal between the piston (12) and the cover (22).

A pressure seal used for containing helium within a cryogenic refrigerator, which utilizes a linear drive assembly (5). A deformable gasket (30) is used to seal the enclosing elements of the linear drive assembly to reduce helium leakage. Concentrically serrated members (31, 32) compress onto opposite sides of the soft metal gasket (30) to form labyrinthine sealing grooves therein.

The present invention relates to a connection in a pipeline. The connection comprises a first connecting portion (1a) of a first pipe (1), a second connecting portion (2a) of a second pipe (2) which is connectable to the first connecting portion (1a), a wearing region (A) which allows a certain mutual mobility between the connecting portions (1a, 2a) when they are in a connected state, a sealing region (B) which prevents leakage between the connecting portions (1a, 2a) when they are in a connected state and a centreline (11) which extends centrally through the connection. The wearing region (A) is at a radial distance (r A ) from the centreline (11) which differs from the radial distance (r B ) from the sealing region (B) to the centreline (11). The risk of the wearing region (A) coming into contact with, and causing damage to, the sealing region (B) on occasions when the pipes (1, 2) at the connection are being disassembled is thus eliminated.

The invention relates to a gas seal between a coolant jacketed cylinder liner (12) and a cylinder head (11) in an internal combustion engine functioning with high combustion pressures. The cylinder head has a circular groove (17), which is designed to receive an end section (18) of the cylinder liner, and a bearing surface (19) situated radially inside the groove (17) for interacting with a corresponding bearing surface (20) on the cylinder liner. The end section (18) of the liner is provided with a surface (21), which in the position of use diverges axially towards the cylinder head (11). This surface is intended to interact with a corresponding surface (22) on a sealing ring (23) converging in said direction, in order to form a radial seal inside the groove (17).

A seal (100) includes a bore seal portion (102) comprising a first leg (108) terminating in a first sealing profile (108A) and a second leg (110) terminating in a second sealing profile (110A), a crush seal portion (104) and a web (106) extending between the crush seal portion and the bore seal portion. A method of installing a seal includes pressing a bore seal portion of the seal into a first bore of a first member such that a first sealing profile is urged against an inner surface of the first bore, pressing the bore seal portion of the seal into a second bore of a second member such that a second sealing profile is urged against an inner surface of the second bore and the first bore is generally aligned with the second bore, and crushing a crush seal portion of the seal within grooved defined by the first member and the second member.
