Abstract:
A compact rapid liquid chilling apparatus and method are provided. A liquid is placed in a container having an inherent void volume. The housing includes a container-securing space dimensioned to receive ice and maintain substantially all of the ice atop the container placed therein and in thermal communication with the container without allowing substantially any of the ice to fall below the container. A rotating mechanism disposed in the housing rotates the container placed in the container- securing space. As the ice melts as it chills the rotating container, the resulting water falls freely below the container as substantially all of the unmelted ice remains above the container. A lid preferably closes around the container to form a portion of the container- securing space when closed. The lid preferably includes an ice supply window, and an ice measuring bin preferably is attachable to the window.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for maintaining the temperature of an alcoholic beverage (13), including a temperature-controlling device and a container (10) that is capable of receiving the alcoholic beverage and that is particularly adapted for decanting and aerating said alcoholic beverage. The container includes a lower surface (11), and the temperature-controlling device includes a heat-transport layer (20) that is arranged on a portion of the lower surface (11) of the container (10) so as to control the temperature of said liquid.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a container such as a wine glass, tumbler, long drinks glass or other cold drink vessel/receptacle or dispenser that is provided with double side walls which form a cavity therebetween. The base of the container portion which receives the liquid is single walled and can be provided in contact or near contact with a cooling medium. The cooling medium includes a capsule of a cooling compound. The cooling medium can be selectively located on the container to provide a cooling effect on the liquid held therein. Typically the capsule is biased towards the base of the container by biasing means located within the housing of the cooling medium so as to ensure the liquid in the container remains chilled whilst being consumed.
Abstract:
A cover assembly (14) has a lower section (16) in a cylindrical configuration. The cover assembly has an upper section (18) in a conical configuration. The cover assembly has an intermediate section (20). The lower section has an open lower end (22). The upper section has an open upper end (28). A base (38) is in a flat circular configuration. The base is movable between a closed orientation in contact with the lower end of the lower section and an open orientation spaced from the lower end of the lower section. A strap assembly couples the cover assembly and the base securing the base in the closed orientation and releasing the base from the closed orientation.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a container for cooling at least substantially cylindrical objects, in which the container is provided with at least two cooling walls, each connected to the other in an annular lower side, each having an outside wall and two side edges extending from the lower side to an upper part of the wall, the side edges of adjacent cooling walls tapering towards each other from the upper part to the lower side, and an accommodation chamber being formed in each cooling wall for accommodation of a removable cooling element, which accommodation chamber is bounded by a part of a substantially circular bottom contour, the outside wall and the side edges.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A sippy cup (100) or other spill-resistant container including a cold plug (120) for cooling liquids placed therein. The sippy cup (100) includes a cup body (110) that surrounds a beverage storage chamber. A bottom wall (115) of the cup body (110) defines an opening. In one embodiment, a support flange (130) extends upward from the bottom wall (115) into the fluid storage chamber and surrounds the opening. In another embodiment, a support flange extends upward through the opening into the fluid storage chamber from a sleeved cap. The cold plug (120) structure includes a tube-shaped body (121) enclosing a refrigerant (125) and having a closed end that extends through the central opening into the fluid storage chamber. A base (127) of the cold plug structure is secured to the bottom wall of the cup body, and is supported by the support flange to prevent displacement of the cold plug caused by dropping or otherwise jarring the sippy cup.
Abstract:
A beverage container (10) having a beverage compartment (12) and an ice compartment (14) separated by a removable seal (30A, 30B) which, when removed, allows the ice and beverage to mix thereby cooling the beverage. The removable seal prevents premature mixing of the beverage and the ice and allows the container to be stored warm, with water in the ice compartment, indefinitely. Prior to use, the container is placed in a dual-temperature environment that freezes the water in the ice compartment but doesn't freeze the beverage. Freezing of the beverage is prevented by an air gap between the beverage and the ice that acts as a thermal barrier. An ice anchor (20) and an air gap (42) in the ice compartment reduce the melting rate of the ice by suspending the ice within the ice compartment, out of contact with the melt water and surrounded by an insulating layer of air.
