O sistema também pode ser utilizado como gotejador automático, sendo que nesta configuração é mantido apertado por meio de uma placa de amassamento (1) contra o órgão (4), bem como empregando uma braçadeira (6) dotada de mola (5) que aplica força estável de magnitude igualou maior que o produto entre a pressão da água, ajustada em regulador de pressão (10) e a camada (2) de fluido sob a membrana (3), na qual a planta exerce compressão e obstrui a vazão da água. O gotejamento é iniciado quando a transpiração proporcione uma queda na pressão de turgor celular da planta, de modo que a pressão resultante seja menor do que a pressão de água ajustada. Este sistema pode também ser miniaturizado e utilizado para medir a pressão de turgescência vegetal utilizando-se pressurização de água com êmbolo (11). A pressão de turgescência celular é obtida, com transdutor de pressão (12), como a menor pressão aplicada que força a passagem de água através da camada (2). Alternativamente, o sistema pode ser montado para operação como dendro-turgômetro em sistema fechado, com tampa (13), e transdutor de pressão (12), enquanto uma braçadeira aplica força de aperto com mola (5) para possibilitar leitura contínua da pressão de turgescência no caule.
