An apparatus and method for managing a residual content in a food product during a milling process comprises a detecting member (100), a computation member (200) and a diverting member (300). The detecting member (100) implemented with a light emitting member is configured to permit irradiation on the food product by a predetermined wavelength of light energy in a near-infrared (NIR) spectrum. The detecting member (100) is configured to measure values of at least one of residual content and constituent concentrations after the irradiation. The computation member (200) configured to indicate a grade quality of the food product by computing a compared value by comparing a predetermined value with the measured value. The diverting member (300) configured to divert the food product to respective chambers based on the computed compared value of the at least one of the residual content and constituent concentration.

The present disclosure relates to an electromechanical grading machine for grading objects and method thereof. The grading machine includes at least one controller with a grading comparator, an object introducing unit, an in-feed unit for feeding object in queue, a singulator for singulating objects, an object moving channel, a plurality of optical examination beds, an optic unit, a plurality of grade container and an object ejection unit. The ejector unit includes at least one channel which receives graded object from the optic unit, a plurality of channel sensors, an object directing unit and a plurality of doors. The channel sensor senses the movement of objects along the channel and cooperated with controller. The objet directing unit provides controlled movement of the objects to the doors thereby gently moving the objects. The doors are permit flow of objects in the grade container.

Disclosed is an apparatus for determining a concentration of a substance in a liquid medium of a test sample. The apparatus comprises a light source (22; 02) for directing a light beam of a first wavelength range towards the test sample, and a first detector (24; 120) for measuring intensity of irradiation emitted from the liquid medium at a second wavelength characteristic for the liquid medium. The apparatus further comprising a second detector (26; 116) for measuring intensity of irradiation emitted from the substance at a third wavelength characteristic for the substance, and a determining unit (50; 150) for determining the concentration of the substance in the liquid medium based on the measured intensities of the irradiation collected at the second wavelength and at the third wavelength. Further, the apparatus is arranged such that the irradiation collected by the first detector is emitted from a first surface area of the test sample and the irradiation collected by the second detector is emitted from a second surface area, which first and second areas are at least partly covered by a surface area of the test sample illuminated by the light beam of the light source.
