Abstract:
The invention is related to a portable electronic printing device equipped with a microprocessor, comprising a data processing module and a touch display designed for the user to communicate with the device and a printer module electronically connected and integrated in a single housing with the touch display equipped with a paper tray and an opening for paper output from the printer, characterised in that the opening designed for paper output from the printer (5) extends in parallel to the edge of the touch display (3) and is a located at a distance of not more than 80 mm from this edge, more preferably not more than 5mm from this edge, and most preferably it is adjacent to this edge, wherein the housing of the said device has a back plane located opposite the touch display (3), the said plane being parallel to the surface of the touch display (3) at least in the part comprising the housing of the data processing module (2). The invention also relates to a use of the portable electronic printing device as part of the sales system.

Abstract:
Embodiments provide techniques for creating and managing accumulator tables for use in generating reports for a business entity. Embodiments include identifying a report for a business entity. A plurality of data fields are determined across two or more database tables that are used to generate the report. Embodiments include creating an accumulator table and populating the accumulator table with data values for all of the plurality of data fields. Upon receiving, from a point of sale system, an indicator of an occurrence of a business event for the business entity, an instance of the report is automatically generated using the populated accumulator table.
Abstract:
A method for printing an image on a receipt is disclosed. The method may begin with the initiation of a transaction such as a purchase or return at a point-of-sale system. Next, an image unique to the transaction may be obtained or generate. The image may comprise non-textual graphics. While the transaction is being performed, the image may be passed to a receipt printer and stored with memory thereof. Accordingly, the images may be stored in memory of the receipt printer before the other tasks associated with the transaction have all been performed. Finally, to complete and document the transaction, the receipt printer may print a receipt. The receipt may have the image printed thereon.
Abstract:
A method of creating an optical security element in a value document using a low-cost printing device of a data processing terminal is described. The method comprises: providing a flexible substrate having a pre-printed ink portion; wherein the pre-printed ink portion is provided in an unexposed state which does not provide an optical security function of the security element; configuring a variable laser irradiation device to determine a part of the unexposed pre-printed ink portion to be exposed to laser radiation in a machine-controlled manner, and exposing the unexposed pre-printed ink portion to laser radiation in the machine-controlled manner to create from the pre-printed ink portion a predefined pattern, wherein the optical characteristics of the pattern provide the optical security element.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus and method of presenting a store receipt having a purchase listing and at least one contextual advertisement. A keyword being selected from a first database, the keyword being either present in the purchase listing or related to a term in the purchase listing, cross-referencing the keyword with a second database containing a plurality of advertisements, and selecting one of said advertisements based upon, at least, said keyword and a geographic location and presenting the relevant contextual advertisement in conjunction with said store receipt. The receipt may be either a printed receipt or an electronic store receipt. Advertisements containing proscribed information are excluded from being presented in conjunction with an electronic receipt or being printed on a paper receipt.
Abstract:
