Abstract:
Embodiments of systems and methods are described for reducing undesired leakage energy produced by a non-front-facing speaker (112a, 112n, 116a, 116n) in a multi-speaker system. For example, the multi-speaker system can include an array of forward-facing speakers (114a, 114n), one or more upward-facing speakers (112a, 112n), and/or one or more side-facing speakers (116a, 116n). Filters coupled to any two of the speakers in the multi-speaker system can generate audio signals output by the coupled speakers to reduce, attenuate, or cancel a portion of an audio signal output by one or more non-front-facing speakers that acoustically propagates along a direct path (130a-c) from the respective non-front-facing speaker to a listening position (120a-c) in a listening area (122) in front of the multi-speaker system.
Abstract:
In described examples, an active noise cancellation ("ANC") unit (310) receives audio signals from a user-operated device through a connection (108). In response to the audio signals, the ANC unit (310) causes at least one speaker (110, 112) to generate sound waves. The ANC unit (310) receives a set of parameters from the user-operated device through the connection (108). The connection (108) is at least one of: an audio cable; and a wireless connection. The set of parameters represents a user-specified combination of ANC properties. The ANC unit (310) automatically adapts itself to implement the set of parameters for substantially achieving the user- specified combination of ANC properties in operations of the ANC unit (310).

Abstract:
Stability is provided in an active noise reduction (ANR) headphone by measuring a sound field to generate an input signal, filtering and applying a variable gain to the input signal to produce a first filtered signal using a first filter and a variable gain amplifier in an ANR signal pathway, outputting the filtered signal, and simultaneously with outputting the first filtered signal, sampling a signal at a point in the ANR signal pathway and filtering the sampled signal using a second filter to produce a second filtered signal. The second filtered signal is compared to a threshold, and if the comparison finds that the second filtered signal is greater than the threshold signal, the gain of the variable gain amplifier is changed to attenuate the first filtered signal. The second filter applies different gains, different by at least 10 dB, in different frequency ranges between 10 Hz and 10 kHz.
Abstract:
In some examples, an audio output device can provide audio setting modification based on presence detection by receiving an input from a camera in response to the camera detecting the presence of a person, and modify an audio setting of the audio output device in response to receiving the input from the camera.
Abstract:
The present invention is an active internal combustion engine exhaust noise reduction system optionally capable of harvesting acoustic energy from the exhaust stream. Salient features include at least one controllably movable reaction element, preferably designed to minimize exhaust back pressure while converting pressure and velocity variations to electrical energy.
Abstract:
A system for providing an enhanced audible environment within an aircraft cabin includes at least one, but possibly, a plurality of transducers mounted symmetrically about a window of the aircraft cabin on a mounting flange of the window. The transducers are cooperatively disposed and configured to excite at least a viewing pane of said window so as to provide a desired audible environment within an aircraft cabin, without obstructing the view from the window.
