    Abstract: An image intensifier is provided in which a thin film (090) is arranged between an output surface of the electron multiplier (040) and the phosphorous screen. The thin film is a semi-conductor or insulator with a crystalline structure comprising a band gap equal or larger than 1eV, wherein the crystalline structure has a carrier diffusion length equal or larger than 50% of the thickness of the thin film. In addition, the thin film has an anode directed surface which has a negative electron affinity. By way of provisioning a thin film of the above type in the image intensifier, an improvement in mean transfer function of the overall image intensifier is obtained.

    Abstract: An X-ray imaging apparatus includes a top transparent conductive layer and a bottom transparent conductive layer electrically connected to the top transparent conductive layer. The apparatus also includes an X-ray field modulator positioned adjacent to the bottom transparent conductive layer and an electro-optic layer positioned between the X-ray field modulator and the top transparent conductive layer. The X-ray field modulator is configured to modulate one of a resistance and a charge level therethrough when exposed to different X-ray levels to thereby create different levels of voltage drop across the electro-optic layer. In addition, the different levels of voltage drop causes varying optical properties to appear in the electro-optic layer.

    Abstract: An image sensor cell (100) is presented for use in an imaging device, for example of a night vision type. The image sensor cell (100) comprises an electrodes' assembly and a control unit (118). The electrodes' assembly is configured and operable to receive an input light signal and produce a corresponding electrical signal. The electrodes' assembly comprises a photocathode (112) having an active region capable of emitting electrons in response to incident light; and at least one electrode (114, 116) in a path of electrons emitted from the photocathode (112).     Abstract: An X-ray image intensifier (1) comprises an entrance screen (2) with a photocathode (3). A television camera (15) is optically coupled to the exit window (12) of the X-ray image intensifier. The X-ray image intensifier with the television camera derives a primary image signal from an X-ray image on the entrance screen. The X-ray image intensifier is provided with a radiation source (4), such as flashlights or LEDs, for irradiating the photocathode (3). Irradiation of the photocathode produces a light intensity distribution on the exit window wherefrom the television camera derives a control signal. Correction numbers are derived from the signal levels of the control signal. These correction numbers are employed for correcting the primary image signal.

    Abstract: A mounting system for night vision tubes includes a multi-part sleeve that opens in the manner of a clamshell to receive the tube. The sleeve includes a longitudinal seam or a partial longitudinal seam and opens around compliant hinge regions. The night vision tube engages a ramp section of the sleeve, urging the sleeve to open and then abuts against a front shoulder, causing the sleeve to clamp shut around the night vision tube. The tube is constrained between the front shoulder and a retaining shoulder. An indexing pin engages the night vision tube and the sleeve to maintain mutual rotational alignment. The sleeve and the tube are inserted into a housing of a night vision system.
