Abstract:
Systems and apparatus are disclosed for a target device to detect a trigger from an initiating device. One implementation includes a wireless device configured to correlate a received waveform with a target waveform, compare a result of the correlation to a threshold and output a first signal based on the comparison of the result and the threshold. The apparatus may also be configured to generate a sequence of bits by demodulating at least a portion of the received waveform in response to receiving the first signal, to compare in parallel a plurality of circularly rotated versions of a target sequence of bits with the demodulated sequence of bits, and to combine the results of the comparisons and output a second signal when the combined comparisons indicate that the demodulated sequence of bits corresponds to the target sequence of bits.
Abstract:
A transmitter includes a synthesis filter bank to spread a data symbol to a plurality of frequencies by encoding the data symbol on each frequency, apply a common pulse-shaping filter, and apply gains to the frequencies such that a power level of each frequency is less than a noise level of other communication signals within the spectrum. Each frequency is modulated onto a different evenly spaced subcarrier. A demodulator in a receiver converts a radio frequency input to a spread-spectrum signal in a baseband. A matched filter filters the spread-spectrum signal with a common filter having characteristics matched to the synthesis filter bank in the transmitter by filtering each frequency to generate a sequence of narrow pulses. A carrier recovery unit generates control signals responsive to the narrow pulses suitable for generating a phase locked loop between the demodulator, the matched filter, and the carrier recovery unit.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for identifying correct peaks in outputs of matched filters in user equipment for communication systems are provided. A received signal is correlated with a replica of a synchronization signal, thereby producing a correlation output signal. Peaks are detected in the correlation output signal. The peak is tested at a plurality of predetermined locations that are based on properties of the synchronization signal, thereby producing a plurality of peak test signals. The maximum of the peak test signals is determined.
Abstract:
A bidirectional direct sequence spread spectrum half-duplex RF modem for transmitting and receiving analog and digital pulse modulation. The modem incorporates a SAW based correlator for performing the spreading and de-spreading functions in the transmitter and receiver. A programmable frequency synthesizer provices the frequency source for various signals in the modem including the local oscillator (LO), IF interrogating pulse and clock signals. An upconverter/downconverter provides frequency translation to the desired frequency band. Pulse gating and interrogating pulse shaping reduce the spectral side bands of the transmitted spread pulse. The RF modem operates as an analog or digital pulse transmitter and receiver and is applicable in data communication systems such as OOk, PWM and PPM. The transmission bit rate can be increased by using a plurality of correlators wherein each is configured with a unique function (i.e. code) that is orthogonal to the other functions.

The device comprises a common memory arranged for storing in sequence different intermediate results in determining the correlation. The intermediate results including at least samples resulting at various stages of a time to frequency transform used for transforming samples of the code modulated signal into the frequency domain and samples resulting at various stages of a frequency to time transform used for transforming obtained correlation results into the time domain. The invention relates equally to a corresponding system, to a corresponding method and to a corresponding software program product.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a method for detecting the orthogonal code CDMA signal. It mainly includes: estimating the main power of each multipath signal's disturber; matched filtering each multipath signal and performing max proportion combination by using the power of each multipath signal's disturber, in order to get optimized matched filtering output; and united detecting the optimized matched filtering output. It may be two implement: when using the detect implement of optimized matched filtering, it only needs to perform the first two main steps; when using the united detecting implement, it needs to perform all the three steps. For the two implements estimate the main power of each multipath signal's disturber, it needs to select the disturb code's channel which join to estimation, namely select all the code's channel of this subzone or the code's channel of this subzone which not perform united detection. As a result of using the orthogonal code characteristic and channel estimation, improve the system's performance by small cost. It can be especially used in the device of orthogonal code CDMA system.

In one embodiment, a Walsh-Hadamard decoder can have a hardware efficient Fast Hadamard Transform ("FHT") engine. In one embodiment, the FHT engine can include an input to receive an input sequence to be decoded into a Walsh-Hadamard codeword. The FHT engine can further include a controller to correlate the received input sequence with a plurality of Walsh- Hadamard codewords using two, add/subtract modules. In one embodiment, the two add/subtract modules operate in parallel.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method, a processing unit and a system for determining the correlation between samples of a received code modulated signal and samples of replica code sequences. In order to simplify and accelerate the process, it is proposed that the received samples and the replica samples are aligned to each other and that the positions of the samples in the received signal and in the replica code sequences are grouped, each group comprising all positions at which the composition of the values of the samples of all of the replica code sequences is similar. The values of the received samples which are associated to a respective group are combined separately for each group to obtain a respective preliminary result. Then, a correlation value is determined for each replica code sequence by combining the preliminary results obtained for all groups separately for each replica code sequence, taking into account the values of the samples of the replica sequences in the respective group.
