Abstract:
Enabling personalised shared mobile phone usage within a wireless telecommunications network, including an illustrative application of the invention as it relates to mobile subscribers who cannot afford a mobile phone handset in the emerging markets developing countries or poor regions. For instance, a prepaid wireless subscriber can be provisioned on a wireless network without the need for a mobile phone handset or SIM but with a personal phone number. The subscriber may access his account and invoke the system by keying in an Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) short code followed by his account number on a borrowed handset to access a personalised menu sent from the system over the network. Key features of the disclosure are the very low cost of entry and the ability for a subscriber to access the system from any GSM MAP2+ handsets without the need for any modification or downloading of applications.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for dynamic selection of an originating identifier for billing optimization are provided herein. In some embodiments, a method for dynamic selection of an originating identifier for billing optimization may include receiving from a device associated with a user a first communication request containing a first identifier; determining a second identifier from a plurality of identifiers associated with the user, wherein determination of the second identifier is based on a billing rate associated with the first identifier and the second identifier; and transmitting a second communication request to establish a communication using the first identifier as a destination number and the second identifier as an originating number.
Abstract:
An IP telephony service allows customers to form user groups. Each user group can include multiple telephony devices that are associated with one or more users. One or more group identifiers would be associated with each user group. When an incoming communication is directed to a user group, a group identifier is used to retrieve a list of the members of the group, or a list of devices that correspond to the members of the user group. The communication is then sent to one or more members of the group, or to one or more of the devices that correspond to members of the user group. Handling preferences may determine how the incoming communication is delivered. In some instances, the incoming communication could be a telephone call. In other instances, the incoming communication could be a SMS message or an instant message.

Abstract:
Method and device of monitoring service usage are disclosed. The method includes: acquiring respective service plan information of a first service plan and a second service plan for a service offered by one or more service providers, the respective service plan information for each of the first and second service plans including a respective set of service variables; acquiring respective values for the respective sets of service variables for the first and second service plans based on actual service usage associated with a user; in accordance with the acquired respective values, generating a first service score for the first service plan and a second service score for the second service plan; and in accordance with the first and second service scores, selecting a respective service plan for at least one of usage recommendation or fee calculation for subsequent use in a current service cycle.
Abstract:
In an example embodiment, a method is provided for, comprising receiving an indication of an intent to exchange service data with a separate apparatus by way of a communication network, determining that a first subscription identity device, associated with a first communication network, and a second subscription identity device, associated with a second network, are capable of providing for the exchange of the service data, receiving a first charge information indicative of at least one charge for the exchange of the service data by way of the first network, receiving a second charge information indicative of at least one charge for the exchange of the service data by way of the second network, and causing display of at least one subscription identity device recommendation based, at least in part, on the first charge information, and the second charge information is disclosed.

Abstract:
An IC card issuer issues an IC card and requests a card storage area operator that part of the IC card's storage area be loaned to a card storage area user. The card storage area operator provides various elements of data to storage area dividing devices under the control of an operator's communication device (12). The card storage area user divides an IC card storage area into a storage area used by the IC card issuer and that used by the card storage area user. An operation file registering device writes file data, for providing service by the card storage area user, into the card storage area user's storage area obtained by the above dividing.
