Abstract:
An electronic device having a user interface for accessing phone features. The user interface accounts for whether the electronic device is connected to a companion cellular phone. The user interface accounts for a headset is available for use to carry on a call. The user interface permits transition between using one or more of cellular phone, headset, and/or the electronic device to be used for carrying on incoming or outgoing calls.

Abstract:
A prepared response communication system includes a receiver to receive response codes from at least a first communications device, and a call response module to respond in accordance with the response codes to an attempt by a second communications device to call the first communications device. A communications device includes an incoming call interceptor to intercept incoming calls from at least a second device, and an incoming call response application to enable a user of the communications device to respond in a pre-determined manner to the second device.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for providing substitute media content to a communications device user during suspension of a communications session is disclosed. In an exemplary method, a communications device (100) suspends output of audio or video information (305, 405) flowing from a remote communications node, in response to a received suspend message (315, 415). The communications device (100) initiates playback of substitute media content until a resume message (345, 450) is received, whereupon the device (100) suspends playback of the substitute media content and resumes output of audio or video information (365, 470) flowing from the remote communications terminal.
Abstract:
A mobile communication device (10) includes video communication capability. When the video call is place on hold by the mobile communication device (10), a pre-recorded video is transmitted to the holding party. The pre-recorded video may be stored in the memory (14) of the mobile communication device (10) or may be stored in a video server (122) in the network. In the latter case, the mobile communication device (10) signals the video server to transmit a selected video to the holding party when the video call is placed on hold.
Abstract:
A description is given of a method of maintaining a connection request of a calling subscriber Station (RT1), in which a connection request relating to a target subscriber Station (ZT1, ZT2) is indicated by the calling subscriber station (RT1). The calling subscriber station (RT 1), with the connection request being maintained, is connected to a start information source (SIQ) if a connection corresponding to the connection request is not possible. The start information source (SIQ) comprises an information element to which an address (ADR ZIQ) of a target information source (ZIQ) is assigned. An information element of the start information source (SIQ) is output in voice form to the calling subscriber Station (RT 1). Based an selection information (AI) entered an the calling subscriber Station (RT1) by means of a user input, an output information element is selected. The calling subscriber station (RT1), based an the address (ADR ZIQ) assigned to the selected information element, is connected to a target information source (ZIQ).
Abstract:
A telecommunications call tone system where the usual tones received ba a caller's device (10), such as a ring tone, are replaced by at least one message. A message system module (3) is provided at or adjacent an exchange (4) to provide a message to a telecommunications device (10) making a call to a number/destination (12) controlled by the exchange (4). The message being provided continously between the commencement of the call and the call being answered or terminated in substitution for a call tone.
Abstract:
A telephony adapter device is connected to a public telephone network, a conventional telephone, and a computer, which allows the conventional telephone to be used for both traditional telephony and computer network telephony. The adapter includes a first connector for connecting adapter to the telephone, a second connector for connecting adapter to the public telephone network, and a third connector for connecting adapter to the computer. The adapter also includes signal processing circuitry electrically connected to the third connector, a switch electrically connected by separate switch contacts to the first and second connectors, and the signal processing circuitry, and a microcontroller connected between the signal processing circuitry and the third connector. The switch electrically connects the first connector to the second connector in a first position, and electrically connects the first connector to the signal processing circuitry in a second position. Operation of the adapter, including the positioning of the switch, is controlled by the microcontroller.
Abstract:
In a call centre connected via a network to a number of terminals, at least part of a process of automatic call distribution (ACD) is carried out at the terminals.
