Abstract:
A plunger installation tool that exerts a force on a plunger for a reciprocating pump to install the plunger into a pump cylinder opening. Maintenance of the pump typically includes repacking of the packing that surrounds the plunger and revalving of the pump's inlet and outlet valve. To allow repacking or revalving, the pump is disassembled and the plunger is removed. The plunger installation tool threads onto the pump cylinder opening to provide a reaction point for a threaded rod that is driven at one end by a driver and engages the plunger at an opposite end during installation to push the plunger into the cylinder opening without the use of hammers by personnel.

An apparatus for removing support and guidance rollers (22) from an endless track vehicle (10) so that the rollers (22) may be repaired or replaced. The apparatus enables one man to remove and replace one or all of the support and guidance rollers (22) in approximately one-half the time previously required by several workmen. The apparatus includes a tool (30) having a base (31) on which a generally vertical threaded shaft (35) is mounted and such shaft may be selectively rotated to raise and lower a travelling block (36) and such block carries a generally horizontal threaded shaft (41) having a cradle (43) or other support means at one end which receives and supports an endless track support and guidance roller (22) when such roller is to be removed and replaced.

A method and system (250) for use in facilitating relative movement between first and second components is provided. A first component engagement assembly (270) is inserted into an opening (252) in the first component. The first component engagement assembly is threadably coupled adjacent to a thrust member (260) such that the thrust member extends through the first component opening. An end (274) of the thrust member extends toward the second component. The first component engagement assembly (270) couples in frictional engagement with an inner surface (249) of the first component opening. When torque is exerted on the thrust member, the thrust member moves relative to the first component engagement assembly to exert, via the end of the thrust member, one of a thrust force and a traction force against the second component to move the second component relative to the first component.

An apparatus and method for extracting shafts is provided. The apparatus includes a torquing device, threaded rod, support frame, retractable portion, tensional coupler and collar. The torquing device is disposed on a first end of the threaded rod, and the threaded rod threads through a support frame and terminates at a second end that is in a rotatably free relationship with the retractable portion. The collar is connected to the retractable portion through the tensional coupler and is capable of grasping an engagement portion of the shaft. The method includes providing a shaft associated with an object, providing the apparatus, grasping the engagement portion of the shaft with the collar, positioning the support frame of the apparatus adjacent to a support wall and applying force while rotating the torquing device of the apparatus, resulting in the shaft being extracted.

The upper block includes a frame, a plurality of sheaves, and a removable sheave pin that defines an axis of rotation for the sheaves and supports the sheaves within the frame. The pin removal assembly includes a sheave support mountable to the frame of the upper block and a pin support mountable to the frame of the upper block. The pin support is configured to support the sheave pin when the sheave pin is removed from the upper block.

An auto-aligning linear motion apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a leadscrew. The apparatus also includes a nut arrangement configured to surround the leadscrew, wherein the nut arrangement includes at least a nut, a nut bracket, and a floating collar. A shoulder screw is inserted through a nut bracket slot of the nut bracket and a nut slot of the nut to rest at least partially within the floating collar. One dimension of the nut bracket slot is larger than a dimension through a cross-section area of the shoulder screw to enable the shoulder screw to move within the nut bracket slot to adjust the nut arrangement as the leadscrew is rotated to maintain a concentric relationship between the nut arrangement and the leadscrew.
