Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel sulfoperoxycarboxylic acid compounds, and methods for making and using them. The sulfoperoxycarboxylic compounds of the invention are storage stable, water soluble and have low to no odor. Further, the compounds of the present invention can be formed from non-petroleum based renewable materials. The compounds of the present invention can be used as antimicrobials, and bleaching agents. The compounds of the present invention are also suitable for use as coupling agents.
Abstract:

Pharmaceutical compositions including the compounds, and methods of treatment using the compounds, are also disclosed. Such compounds have utility for treating or preventing gastrointestinal disorders, including colon cancer, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.
Abstract:
Certain chemical analogs and related compounds useful in the control nematodes and other pests that infest plants or the situs of plants are described. Nematodes and other pathogens that parasitize animals can also be controlled using the methods and compounds of this invention.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a composition comprising glyphosate and at least one taurate salt. This composition can further comprise a water-immiscible phase comprising a triazolinone herbicide and one or more aromatic solvents with an aqueous phase comprising the glyphosate and an emulsifier comprising the at least one taurate salt. The glyphosate and emulsifier of the present invention can be advantageously mixed with the triazolinone herbicide and one or more aromatic solvents to produce compositions that are chemically and physically stable.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to agrochemical compositions and in particular to aqueous agrochemical compositions containing a water soluble agrochemical active ingredient and an adjuvant; preferably cyclic amines or cyclic amides having at least one tertiary amine group or tertiary nitrogen. The amines or amides of the present invention are preferably an amine or amide selected from quinuclidine or a salt thereof, N-(aminopropyl) morphiline or a salt thereof, 1-(2-hydroxethyl-2 imidazolidinone) and aminoethylpiperazine or a salt thereof.
Abstract:
Anti-microbial coatings and powders and method of forming same on medical devices are provides. The coatings are preferably formed by depositing an anti-microbial biocompatible metal by vapour deposition techniques to produce atomic disorder in the coating such that a sustained release of metal ions sufficient to produce an anti-microbial effect is achieved. Preferred deposition conditions to achieve atomic disorder include a lower than normal substrate temperature, and one or more of a higher than normal working gas pressure and a lower than normal angle of incidence of coating flux. Anti-microbial powders formed by vapour deposition or altered by mechanical working to produce atomic disorder are also provided. The anti-microbial effect of the coatings or powders may be further activated or enhanced by irradiating with a low linear energy transfer form of radiation such as gamma radiation. Novel anti-microbial silver materials are defined, characterized by having a positive rest potential, a Trec/Tm less than 0.33, and a grain size less than 200 nm. Anti-microbial fine grain or nanocrystalline materials are provided, together with methods of preparation, wherein the anti-microbial metal if deposited in a matrix with atoms or molecules of a different material such as other biocompatible metals (ex. Ta), trapped or absorbed oxygen, or compounds of anti-microbial metals or biocompatible metals (ex. Ag0 or TaO). The invention also extends to a method of producing an anti-microbial effect with silver materials that form complex silver ions other than Ag , Ag and Ag .
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of a pyripyropene derivative for protecting plants, the plant propagation material thereof, or soil or water, in which the plants are growing, against the attack or infestation by gastropods. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a method for controlling gastropods comprising contacting the gastropods or their food supply, habitat or breeding ground; or plants or plant propagation material thereof, or soil or water, wherein the gastropods are present or may occur, with a molluscicidally effective amount of a pesticide as defined herein. Moreover, the present invention relates to a bait composition comprising a pesticide as defined herein, a mollusc attractant, and optionally at least one further additive.
Abstract:
Provided herein are biodegradable anticorrosive compositions that convert rust and protect metal surfaces, compositions that protect wood, and adhesive compositions that adhere to a multitude of surfaces with strong adhesion.
Abstract:
A method of solubilizing hydrophobic pesticides having one or more carbonyl groups comprises adding bisulfite for dissolving the pesticide in water to form an apparent solution, wherein said apparent solution is used for applying to agricultural crops. And the use of a composition comprising an aqueous mixture of aldehydes and bisulfite with a suitable surfactant, said use for controlling pests.
