Abstract: Cleaning devices described herein can provide a hybrid fin and wiper system to facilitate removal of residual solids and liquids from a tubular device (e.g., endoscope), even in a single pass. The cleaning devices described herein can provide pressure equalization and release to effectively clean a blind channel without causing hydraulic compaction of debris. The cleaning devices described herein can provide a connection system that facilitates adjustment and customization based on the needs of a particular application.

Abstract: The present invention includes an indwelling urinary catheter operable for flushing fluid through the urethra. The catheter has an elongated tubular catheter body, a discharge lumen disposed within the catheter body operable for discharging urine from a patient, a fluid flush lumen disposed within the catheter body operable to receive a flushing fluid, and at least one permeable sheath in fluid communication with the fluid flush lumen, wherein a plurality of protrusions of variable shapes, sizes, and arrangements are disposed on the outer surface of the sheath and are operable to create space between the catheter body and the urethra for improved flushing. Alternative embodiments include circumferential ridges and eluting pores disposed on the outer surface of the sheath wherein the distance and height between the ridges as well as the density of the eluting pores decrease in the direction of the proximal end of the sheath.

Abstract: A vascular access system can have a probe with a dynamically expandable distal end. The dynamically expandable probe can be inserted through a catheter while the catheter is positioned intravenously to facilitate fluid flow into or out from the catheter such as by moving an occlusion away from the catheter tip, removing an occlusion, accessing additional sources of blood and/or repositioning the catheter tip. Because it is dynamically expandable, the probe can minimize the likelihood that it will become occluded while it is inserted intravenously and may provide control over the rate of fluid flow into or out from the catheter.
