Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of producing an encapsulated oil-solubleactive ingredient dissolved in oil. The method comprises mixing an oil-soluble activeingredient dissolved in oil with a solution of OSA-modified starch and a pectin stocksolution under high shear condition to form an oil-in-water emulsion and graduallyforming a suspension of microcapsules, wherein each of the microcapsules comprisesa microcapsule wall formed from the OSA-modified starch from the solution of OSA-modified starch; and adding a solution containing a cross-linker into the suspension ofmicrocapsules to cause a cross-linking reaction so as to form a cross-linked wall oneach of the microcapsules, wherein each of the microcapsules comprises the oil-solubleactive ingredient dissolved in oil, encapsulated within the cross-linked wall consisting ofOSA-modified starch cross-linked with pectin, and wherein the microcapsules aredispersible in aqueous media. The invention further relates to an encapsulated productobtainable by the method of the present invention. The encapsulated product is free ofadditional surfactant.

Abstract: A buoyant reflective composition is provided having hollow silicon dioxide glass microspheres with sizes from 500-650 nanometers, a 400 nm air inclusion bubble, and being within a range of 1%- 98% by weight, of nominally 23%. Food-grade Ti02 particles are included between 0%-10% by weight of the total. An aliphatic component mixture having C 16 or C 18 aliphatic alcohol with slightly water soluble C16 or C18 aliphatic carboxylic acid are included, having a total composition buoyancy in water at a density of less than about 1.0 g/cm3. The C16 or C18 aliphatic carboxylic acid is 0%-10% by weight. The Ti02 content is 0%- 5% by weight. The composition may have up to 5 % by weight iron oxide as Fe2+, Fe3+, or both. Also provided are methods of cooling an environment, including providing a substrate; and applying an effective amount of a preselected buoyant reflective coating to the substrate.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process and a system for producing a textured edible protein product derived from insect larvae or worms. The process comprises a) reducing the insect larvae or worms in size to obtain a pulp, b) mixing the pulp with a hydrocolloid that gelates with metal cations in aqueous solution to form a protein-hydrocolloid slurry, and c) injecting the protein-hydrocolloid slurry into an aqueous solution of a metal cation with a valency of at least 2 to form the textured edible protein product. In step c) the protein-hydrocolloid slurry is jetted under pressure from outside of the aqueous solution of a metal cation with a valency of at least 2 into the aqueous solution at an oblique angle with respect to a liquid surface of the aqueous solution, thereby producing flakes of the textured edible protein product in the aqueous solution, in which flakes substantially all hydrocolloid has been gelated with the metal cations.
