Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention are directed to systems, methods, and computer program products for optimizing the manufacture of wooden furniture. The system is configured to receive a user selection of a furniture product; receive a user input associated with the one or more variables for each of the one or more components of the furniture product; generate a furniture plan for the one or more components associated with the at least one of the one or more furniture products; and transmit control signals based on the furniture plan to cause a manufacturing equipment to implement the furniture plan, wherein implementing the furniture plan further comprises manufacturing the one or more components.
Abstract:
In various embodiments, a dynamically directed workpiece positioning system may include a transport, a sensor positioned to detect a workpiece on the transport, a cutting member positioned along or downstream of the transport, and a computer system. The sensor may scan the workpiece as the workpiece is moved relative to the transport by a human operator or a positioning device. Based on the scan data, the computer system may generate commands to guide the human operator or positioning device in moving the workpiece to a desired position corresponding to a cut solution for the workpiece. Optionally, the computer system may cause the cutting member to be repositioned while the workpiece is being moved relative to the transport. Once the workpiece is in the desired position, the transport may be used to move the workpiece toward the cutting member. Corresponding methods and apparatuses are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method and structure for an integrated system for fabricating components for a customer's selected wood-based project, including at least one computer for providing an interface with a consumer to input inquiries and design choices directed to a project having at least one component to be machined in a tandem machine system in which a wood-based project component can be fabricated, regardless whether the component is based on dimensional stock or on sheet material stock. The customer interacts with either a database showing previously-designed projects for implementation using the tandem machine or a CAD (Computer Aided Design) module to develop a new project or a modification of a project in the database.
Abstract:
A numeric control system for a machine tool is provided for interactive programming on a color CRT, a numeric controller of a machine tool and a program generation method according to the present invention cause which simultaneously displays a plurality of input items, a cursor for selecting one of the input items and help information associated with the selected item. Accordingly, numeric control data can be programmed correctly and easily without requiring high level of knowledge and skill.
Abstract:
A precut module with one or more profiling heads and/or circular saws may be provided upstream of a saw module. The precut module may be used to implement a portion of a cut that would otherwise be made by the saw module, thereby reducing the depth of cut required at the saw module. In some embodiments, profiling heads may be used to profile a block that is wider than a desired side board. The block may be cut from the workpiece and sent to the edger. This may provide the same or better wood volume recovery and/or throughput speed than profiling the side board or cutting the side board from a flitch. In some embodiments, cut patterns for the precut module and other machine centers may be calculated and/or selected based on a desired depth of cut at the saw module, desired throughput speed, wood volume recovery, and/or other parameters.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The invention allows the automatic handling of frames and profiles on which machining operations are performed in a simple manner by persons not expert in the programming of numerical control machines. The invention is characterised in that it includes: an interface (2) allowing the user (6) to input general data relating to the operation and object (7) to be machined; a processing means (3) connected to the interface (2), which determines the paths and speeds of the cutting tool (5); a CNC controller (4) which controls the means for actuating the cutting tool (5) such that it complies with the pre-determined paths and speeds; positioning means that correctly position the object (7) to be machined; means for advancing the object (7) through a machining zone of the CNC centre (1); and tools (8) for securing the object (7) to be machined.
