Abstract: Disclosed is a resistance welding device (1), especially for welding thermoplastics, which comprises an actuator (2) of elongated shape with a distal end (3) and a proximal end (4), a heating system with a transformer (7), a cooling system and an electronic power supply and control system (6). The actuator (2) has a power supply at its distal end (3) and at its proximal end (4) it has an electrode system (81, 82) terminated by a heating element (9) at the outlet (52) of the cooling system. The heating system with a transformer (7), the cooling system and the electronic power supply and control system (6) are located inside the actuator (2). Additionally, the transformer (7) is connected to the heating element (9).

Abstract: Process for manufacturing inflatable bodies capable of assuming a desired complexly curved shape comprising two, around their circumference hermetically bonded opposing membranes (3, 4) which are internally linked by a plurality of link tapes (1), which tapes are bonded at an exact length and inclination angle at an exactly determined position. By numerical instructions, a continuous tape is fed and bonded alternately on the insides of the membranes by means of a robotized tape positioning head, creating bond lines (2) between the tape and a membrane. Any fold occurring through local inclination, or planar angle variation of the tape relative to a membrane is kept between two bond lines on a membrane (3, 4). A robotized tape positioning and bonding head inside, and a bond activation head outside of a membrane can position relative to a membrane (3, 4) by means of printed positioning marks, optical and proximity sensors to create the bond lines (2).

Abstract: An ultrasonic welding method for joining a first thermoplastic part and a second thermoplastic part without causing visible read-through on an exposed surface of the second part. The method includes arranging the first part on an inner surface of the second part. The inner surface is opposite the exposed surface. The first part has an interface portion contacting the inner surface. The method includes causing a horn of an ultrasonic welding stack to be pressed against the first part by applying ultrasonic energy oscillating at a frequency in a range of 45-70 kHz through the horn, to thereby join the first part and the second part together. The horn has at least one protruding distal portion configured to penetrate through the first part as the ultrasonic energy is imparted through the horn. The distal portion has a length longer than a thickness of the first part. A collapse distance of a weld formed at the interface portion is less than the thickness of the first part, to avoid read-through effects on the exposed surface of the second part.

Abstract: An apparatus (1) is proposed for cutting off and joining a sheet element (2) to a container (3, 3'), the apparatus (1) comprising an operating unit (4) comprising a cutting device (401) and a joining device (402), wherein the cutting device (401) comprises a cutting edge (403) which surrounds the joining device (402). The operating unit (4) and the container (3, 3') are movable with respect to one another along a movement axis (Z) between a spaced condition, in which a sheet material (5) is interposed therebetween and is spaced therefrom, and a joined condition, in which the joining device (402) is configured to join the sheet material (5) to the container (3; 3'). The apparatus (1) additionally comprises a retaining device (6), configured to retain the sheet material (5) during the joining and the cut. In the joined condition, the cutting device (401) is configured to remain fixed relative to the joining device (402) and the retaining device (6) is configured to move along the axis (Z) from a tensioning position to a cutting position, the sheet element (2) being cut on the cutting edge (403) from the sheet material (5) during the movement of the retaining device (6) from the tensioning position to the cutting position. In addition to the apparatus (1), a relative method for cutting off and joining a sheet element (2) to a container (3, 3') is also provided.

Abstract: A sealing apparatus for use in a method of manufacturing a device for insertion into a vaginal or rectal cavity. The sealing apparatus comprises a first portion and a second portion. The first portion is configured to support at least part of an anchor element of a device and at least part of a protective sheath of a device. At least one of the first and second portions is movable relative to the other to a position so that the second portion applies pressure to the anchor element and sheath when the anchor element and sheath are supported by the first portion. One of the first and second portions comprises a heating element configured to apply heat to thermally seal a portion of the sheath to a portion of the anchor element. One of the first and second portions comprises a first end configured to apply pressure to the portions of the sheath and anchor element to be sealed, wherein the first end comprises a resiliently deformable material.
