    摘要: A relief-forming precursor includes a substrate and a relief-forming layer having: a polymer; at least one photopolymerizable monomer; a photopolymerization initiator; and a low surface energy monomer. A relief-forming assembly includes a relief-forming precursor having a low surface energy monomer and a mask element that is in complete optical contact with the relief-forming surface. A method of making a relief image includes: exposing the relief-forming layer to curing UV radiation through the mask element to form an imaged relief-forming layer with polymerized regions and non-polymerized regions; removing the mask element from the imaged relief-forming layer; and developing the imaged relief-forming layer by removing the non-polymerized regions, thereby forming a relief image. A relief image layer has an elastomer and copolymer that includes at least one photopolymerized monomer and a low surface energy monomer that has a silicone moiety with a relief surface having the silicone moiety.

    摘要: A thermal transfer donor element has a polymeric support having at least a portion thereof coated with a thermal transferable protective transparent film. This film comprises: (1) a poly(vinyl acetal) in an amount of at least 50-70 weight %, (2) a second polymer, and (3) colloidal silica. In addition, (a) the molecular weight of the second polymer is greater than the molecular weight of the poly(vinyl acetal), (b) the weight ratio of the poly(vinyl acetal) to the second polymer is at least 5:1 and up to and including 12:1, (c) the weight ratio of colloidal silica to the second polymer is at least 1.5:1 and up to and including 3:1, and (d) the amount of colloidal silica is at least 10 weight % and up to and including 20 weight %, based on total thermal transferable protective transparent film dry weight.

    摘要: The present invention provides a thermal transfer donor element that includes a transfer layer comprising a fully or partially crosslinked material. The crosslinked transfer layer can be image wise transferred from the donor element to a proximate receptor by imaging the donor element with radiation that can be absorbed and converted into heat by a light-to-heat converter included in the donor element. The heat generated during imaging is sufficient to effect transfer of the crosslinked transfer layer.

    摘要: There is described a thermal recording system which utilizes a donor element comprising a substrate and a thermal transfer material layer having a dye-containing phase which is amorphous and wherein the dye or dyes present in the amorphous phase form a continuous film. Imagewise heating of the medium transfers portions of the transfer layer to a receiver sheet, thus forming an image. The transfer layer may also include a non-dye phase comprising a thermal solvent. During the heating of the donor element, the crystalline thermal solvent melts and dissolves or liquefies at least a portion of the dye-containing phase, thereby lowering the temperature at which transfer of the transfer layer occurs.
