Abstract:
Pinene compositions are described that may be used to treat respiratory viruses and method of treating a respiratory virus by inhaling an atomized pinene composition. The pinenes composition may comprise an expedient and pinene. The pinene composition comprises pinene in a concentration of greater than 80% by weight of the pinene composition. The methods of treatment of the respiratory virus includes filling a reservoir bottle of an atomizer with a liquid substance, the liquid substance being comprised of pinene and an excipient and being suitable for atomization, wherein the pinene is in a concentration of greater than 80% by weight of the liquid substance; and inhaling the liquid substance.
Abstract:
A process for producing an unsaturated cyclic compound, comprising the steps of hydrochlorinating a terpene to produce a hydrochlorinated terpene, and subjecting the hydrochlorinate terpene to elimination of hydrogen chloride to form an unsaturated cyclic compound. The terpene is preferably alpha -pinene, beta -pinene, camphene or suitable turpentine fraction. The cyclic compounds can be used as monomers and by means of the invention it is thus possible to produce plastics from renewable raw material sources.
Abstract:
Compositions comprising two or more cannabinoids, a terpene, and a flavonoid suitable for use in treating insomnia are disclosed. In preferred embodiments, the cannabinoids are cannabidiol and tetrahydrocannabinol, while the terpenes and flavonoids are selected from compounds that naturally occur in Cannabis extracts. Methods of treating insomnia by administering such compositions by a variety of routes are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use as perfuming ingredient of a 3,3-dimethylbicyclo[2.2.1]hept-2-yl or a 3,3-dimethylbicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-en-2-yl derivative, as well as to the compositions or articles containing said compound.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a method for the preparation of norbornene and substituted norbornene compounds via a Diels-Alder reaction, in which method a cyclic diene is reacted with an olefinic compound in order to prepare a norbornene compound. According to the invention a cyclic diene is gradually added to react with an olefinic compound, in order to keep the concentration of the cyclic diene in the reaction mixture as low as possible during the reaction. It is possible to obtain a very pure product, high yield, short reaction time and high concentrations of the exo diastereomer with this procedure.
Abstract:
Embodiments in accordance with the present invention provide forming various polycycloalkyl polynorbornene polymers and copolymers which are useful for forming pervaporation membranes, the membranes themselves and methods of making such membranes.
Abstract:
Disclosed therein are a cyclic olefin compound, a photoreactive polymer, and an alignment layer comprising the photoreactive polymer, where the cyclic olefin compound can be used to provide the photoreactive polymer having not only excellences in liquid crystal alignment and alignment rate but also readiness for change in the alignment direction depending on the polarization direction.
Abstract:
A process for preparing economically and efficiently 2-methylene-3-methylbicyclo[2.2.1]heptane, 2,3-dimethylbicyclo[2.2.1]hept-2-ene, and so on, which are useful as raw materials in producing base oils for traction drive fluids to be used as lubricating oils for traction drive units, which process comprises reacting one or more C3-4 noncyclic olefins with cyclopentadiene to form one or more bicyclo[2.2.1]heptene derivatives and isomerizing the bicyclo[2.2.1]heptene derivatives in the presence of an isomerization catalyst to form one or more bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane derivatives.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method for purifying norbornene obtained by reacting dicyclopentadiene or cyclopentadiene and ethylene, the raw reaction mixture containing light impurities, whereof the boiling points are less than that of norbornene; middle weight impurities, whereof the boiling points range between that of norbornene and that of ethyl norbornene; and heavy impurities, whereof the boiling points are higher than that of ethyl norbornene, the latter being moreover included among said heavy impurities. The invention is characterised in that it consists in carrying out a first distillation of the raw reaction mixture in a tailing out column (C1), thereby eliminating part of the heavy impurities and part of the middle weight impurities; then a second distillation of the tailed out raw mixture in a topping column (C2), thereby eliminating the light impurities; and then a third distillation of the resulting topped mixture in a tailing out column (C3), thereby eliminating the remaining heavy and middle weight impurities.
Abstract:
Pharmaceutical compositions comprising a mixture of cannabinoids and terpenes and use thereof in the treatment of select disorders mediated by the Hedgehog (HH) signaling pathway are disclosed. In preferred embodiments, the components of the composition synergistically inhibit HH signaling such that they serve to treat cancer and ocular disorders associated with aberrant neovascularization (such as age-related macular degeneration). The cannabinoids to be used include phytocannabinoids (such as tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol), endogenous cannabinoids (such as the N-acylethanolamides), or synthetic cannabinoids. Preferred terpenes for use include those that naturally occur in Cannabis plants (such as pinene, limonene, linalool, and phytol).
