摘要: The present invention relates to polymer comprising a polysaccharide crosslinked with a spacer crosslinker, wherein the spacer crosslinker comprises a first optionally substituted aliphatic moiety terminated at each end with a second moiety comprising at least two carboxylic acid groups. The present invention also relates to a hydrogel, a method of forming the polymer or hydrogel, a composition and capsule comprising the polymer or hydrogel and a method treating obesity, pre-diabetes, diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease or chronic idiopathic constipation or of reducing caloric intake or improving glycemic control using the polymer or hydrogel and a method of weight-loss or improving the body appearance in a healthy subject. In a preferred embodiment, a space crosslinker (PEG-CA) formed by esterifcation between polyethylene glycol and citric acid is used to prepare a crosslinked carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) hydrogel.

摘要: The present invention includes methods of making a nanocellulosic composition comprising one or more nanocellulosic components, wherein the one or more nanocellulosic components comprise a micron-scale cellulose or cellulose nanofibrils (CNF), the method comprising the steps of: creating a nanocellulosic slurry by combining the one or more of nanocellulosic components with a liquid component; and exposing the nanocellulosic slurry to a drying condition, wherein the drying condition comprises microwave radiation, thereby creating a nanocellulosic composition. The present invention also includes compositions comprising cellulose (nanocellulosic compositions), wherein the nanocellulosic compositions have an internal void space of about 5% to about 95% by volume.

摘要: The present invention relates to a process for forming a functionalised dietary fibre comprising admixing an enzyme and an aqueous suspension of dietary fibre, wherein said dietary fibre is at a D 50 particle size distribution of less than 30 microns after degradation by the enzyme and comprises less than 25 wt.% soluble fibres and at least 40% wt.% cellulose; denaturing said enzyme to form a functionalised, amphiphilic dietary fibre with adsorbed enzyme. The present invention further relates to a Pickering particle comprising a functionalised dietary fibre and denatured enzyme and the use of the functionalised dietary fibre and denatured enzyme according to present invention or the Pickering particle according to the present invention to stabilize an emulsion.
