Abstract:
A joint whose number of parts is reduced and whose production process is simplified. The joint has spherical bodies (29a-29d), a circular cylindrical inner hub (20) in which hemispherical receiving sections (22a-22d) for receiving the spherical bodies (29a-29d) are formed in curved surfaces, and an outer hub (10) that has a receiving section (17) for receiving the inner hub (20) and also has longitudinal grooves (12a-12d) integrally formed with the receiving section (17) and in which the spherical bodies (29a-29d) received in the receiving sections (22a-22d) are received.
Abstract:
This invention provides a constant velocity universal joint having an excellent rolling fatigue property, in which a carbon steel for machine structures having machinability favorably comparable with conventional Pb-added free-cutting steels and, at the same time, having excellent properties after nitriding is used in at least a part of the constant velocity universal joint, and a power transmission shaft having an excellent torsional fatigue property. In the constant velocity universal joint, an outer member and an inner member comprise a steel having a graphite phase of which the carbon content in the molding of the members is not less than 5% by mass. In the surface part after induction hardening/tempering, residual graphite particles and graphite-derived pores have an equivalent circular diameter of not more than 7 µm. The power transmission shaft comprises a constant velocity universal joint provided at one end of a stub shaft. The stub shaft comprises a steel having a graphite phase of which the carbon content in the molding is not less than 5% by mass. In the surface part after induction hardening/tempering, residual graphite particles and graphite-derived pores have an equivalent circular diameter of not more than 7 µm.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a constant velocity ball joint having the following characteristics: the cage windows receive ball pairs (38 1 m 38 2); when the ball joint is extended, the angular distance (al) of the balls in the central plane of the joint within individual ball pairs is smaller than the angular distance (a2) between balls pertaining to adjacent pairs; the center lines of the set of tracks of the ball pairs extend in planes (F2, G2) which are parallel to one another.
