摘要: This invention relates to a fire collar (10) that includes a housing (11) having a bore that includes a first opening (13) and a second opening (18), said second opening being spaced from said first opening by at least one side wall (12), and wherein the fire collar further includes mounting means (14) for mounting said housing to a supporting structure, said mounting means being located adjacent said first opening. The fire collar also includes a layer of intumescent material (46) contained within the bore, adjacent the first opening, and supported in said bore adjacent the side wall. The fire collar also includes one or more torsion springs (48) which are operatively connected to the housing and wherein each spring includes a first leg (50) and a second leg (51). The second leg (51) is capable of movement between a first or non-operating position proximal to the layer of intumescent material and a second or operational position whereby said layer of intumescent material that is in contact with said second leg, either directly or indirectly, at least partially obstructs the bore, said second leg being adapted to engage said intumescent material over a substantially broad area.

摘要: The present invention relates to an expandable plug structure for use in high pressure applications. The expandable plugs, such as pneumatic plugs, are preferably constructed of a multi-layered, reinforced elastomeric cylindrical body, i.e., of reinforced natural rubber, and having an inflator member at one end. The multi-layers include various rubber layers, rubber coated aramid, which subsequent to vulcanization provides a unitary plug with shoulders that resist delamination. The cylindrical body may incorporate metal end plates as well as end plate weldment structures which cooperate with a high pressure flow-through conduit which allows the completed high pressure test plug to simultaneously seal a pipeline and to direct fluid therethrough. The high pressure plug obtains its strength in part based upon high frictional resistance forces generated by the external rubber layer(s), and further by the manner in which the external rubber layer8s) are molded into the metallic structures in the plug.

摘要: A patch kit and method for repairing a tear in a sidewall of an off -road vehicle tire includes an inside patch component, an outside patch component, and a compressing component for assembling, joining and compressing the inner and outer patch components together with the tire sidewall sandwiched therebetween. The compressing component is a threaded rod and a nut or bolt head to dispose on both ends. The inside and outside patch components are rigid or semi¬ rigid cupped shells with a hole for the threaded rod, so that the rod may pass through the patches and the tear for compression by tightening a nut. To facilitate tire repair without removing the tire from its rim, a recovery cable is temporarily connected to pull together repair components after they are separately pushed through the tear into the tire.
