    Abstract: The disclosed invention comprises one or more hybrid metal-composite pressure vessels e.g., 1 (Fig. 1) or 100,200 (Fig. 2), designed for deep water application of radiation sensitive equipment, where the hybrid pressure vessels comprise a combination of metals and non-metals.A source of radiation may be disposed in one of the two hybrid metal-composite pressure vessels and a radiation detector disposes in the other hybrid metal-composite pressure vessel. A radiation beam is less attenuated as it passes through the non-metal parts of the hybrid pressure vessels and the intensity of the radiation reaching a radiation detector is higher than if it were to pass through the metal parts of the housings.

    Abstract: In some examples, it is disclosed a computer-implemented method for inspecting cargo in an open-topped vehicle, comprising: obtaining an estimate of a volume of the cargo in the open-topped vehicle, based on data obtained from a top-observation device, the top-observation device being configured to observe a top surface of the cargo in the open-topped vehicle during a mutual movement of the open- topped vehicle and the top-observation device; determining an estimate of a mass of the cargo in the open-topped vehicle, based on the obtained volume estimate; comparing the determined mass estimate with a reference mass associated with the cargo in the open-topped vehicle; and determining whether the cargo in the open-topped vehicle is in conformity with the reference mass, based on the comparing.

    Abstract: In some examples, there is described a method for processing inspection data associated with cargo irradiated by a plurality of successive pulses of X-rays. The method may involve obtaining the inspection data, the inspection data being generated as a result of scanning the cargo using a matrix comprising a plurality of at least two rows of detectors, and a source of the plurality of successive pulses. In some examples radiation corresponding to the plurality of successive pulses irradiating the cargo is arranged in a first order on the plurality of rows of detectors of the matrix and one or more successive reconstruction zones for the inspection data and corresponding to different orders are determined. Intermediate images of the cargo and an average image are generated. On the generated average image, pixels may be selected and neighbourhoods of the pixels having fewer artefacts may be extracted.

    Abstract: Described herein are a computed tomography scanning system for inspecting an object and methods incorporating the same. The system includes an imaging assembly including a frame positioned within an underground chamber below a ground surface, a platform coupled to and translatable with respect to the frame, and a stage coupled to and rotatable with respect to the platform. The platform is translatable to raise the object above the ground surface and lower the object below the ground surface when the object is on the stage. The imaging assembly also includes an X-ray source fixed with respect to the frame and configured to emit radiation that is attenuated by the object as the platform translates and the stage rotates, and an X-ray detector fixed with respect to the frame, the X-ray detector configured to detect the radiation transmitted through the object and generate a signal representative of the transmitted radiation.
