Abstract: A system for detecting scan and non-scan events in a self-check out (SCO) process includes a a scanner for scanning objects and generating point of sale (POS) data, a video camera for generating a video of the scanning region, proximity sensors proximal to the video camera for defining an Area of Action (AoA), wherein the video camera starts capturing scanning region, when the objects enter the AoA, and the POS data includes non-zero values, an Artificial neural network (ANN) for receiving an image frame and generating one or more values, each indicating a probability of classification of the image frame into one or more classes respectively, and a processing unit for processing the POS data, and probabilities of one or more classes to detect a correlation between video data and POS data, and detect one of: scan and non-scan event in the image frame based on the correlation.

Abstract: There is provided an image processing system and method for identifying a user. The system comprises a processor configured to identify a first user in an image, determine a plurality of characteristic vectors associated with the first user, compare the characteristic vectors associated with the first user with a plurality of predetermined characteristic vectors associated with a plurality of users including the first user, and identify the first user based on the comparison.

Abstract: An error detection system for notifying maintenance personnel of errors in a bowling lane operation may include a camera, artificial light source (optional), a computer that sends an output signal. The output signal may be a signal to provide notification to maintenance personnel to fix the error or an electrical signal to the pinsetter or ball return unit to manipulate operation of the same to prevent further damage. In this manner, interruptions and delays to bowlers will be minimized because maintenance personnel is immediately notified of any errors and can resolve the errors before the bowler realizes the error.

Abstract: A game-agnostic event detector can be used to automatically identify game events. Game-specific configuration data can be used to specify types of pre-processing to be performed on media for a game session, as well as types of detectors to be used to detect events for the game. Event data for detected events can be written to an event log in a form that is both human- and process-readable. The event data can be used for various purposes, such as to generate highlight videos or provide player performance feedback. The event data may be determined based upon output from detectors such as optical character recognition (OCR) engines, and the regions may be upscaled and binarized before OCR processing.
