Abstract: A method of collecting visual data using a mobile image capture device is provided. The method comprises the steps of: capturing image data with the mobile image capture device and associating time and location data with each image; and storing the image data and associated time and location data. The method further comprises monitoring the position and orientation of the image capture device. The method further comprises: defining an area surrounding or next to the location of the mobile image capture device; and identifying a characteristic of the defined area based on one or more of: the density of the image data in the area; the age of the image data in the area; and/or data demand values associated with locations within the defined area. The timing of capture of image data is based on the characteristic of the defined area.

Abstract: A recording system comprises an auxiliary recording device with a first camera and a (primary) recording device with a second camera. The recording device is configured to determine an activation event and to instruct at least one of the first camera to capture a first image or a second camera to capture a second image. Responsive to an image being captured, the recording device receives and stores the captured image. The recording system may comprise a body-worn battery configured to provide power to the recording system. The recording system may comprise a detachable body configured to detachably couple to a main housing body, wherein a camera of the detachable body is configured to capture images when coupled or when detached.

Abstract: In certain embodiments, streaming of a live video to trigger-associated recipients in response to triggers in an environment may be facilitated. In some embodiments, one or more triggers may be detected in an environment, and one or more actions associated with the detected triggers may be performed. As an example, where such associated actions include streaming a live video of the environment to one or more recipients, the recipients may be selected as candidates to receive the live video stream based on the recipients being part of a recipient list associated with a detected trigger. In some embodiments, although a first recipient of the recipient list may initially be selected to receive the live video stream, the live video may be streamed to a second recipient of the recipient list based on the first recipient being unavailable to receive the live video stream.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems, and apparatus for adjusting areas of interest for motion detection in camera scenes. A method includes obtaining a map of false motion event detections using a first area of interest; identifying an overlap area between the map of false detections and the first area of interest; determining a second area of interest that includes portions of the first area of interest and excludes at least a part of the overlap area; obtaining a map of true motion event detections using the first area of interest; determining whether true detections using the second area of interest compared to true detections using the first area of interest satisfies performance criteria; and in response to determining that true detections using the second area of interest compared to true detections using the first area of interest satisfies performance criteria, providing the second area of interest for use in detecting events.

Abstract: A system for detecting scan and non-scan events in a self-check out (SCO) process includes a a scanner for scanning objects and generating point of sale (POS) data, a video camera for generating a video of the scanning region, proximity sensors proximal to the video camera for defining an Area of Action (AoA), wherein the video camera starts capturing scanning region, when the objects enter the AoA, and the POS data includes non-zero values, an Artificial neural network (ANN) for receiving an image frame and generating one or more values, each indicating a probability of classification of the image frame into one or more classes respectively, and a processing unit for processing the POS data, and probabilities of one or more classes to detect a correlation between video data and POS data, and detect one of: scan and non-scan event in the image frame based on the correlation.
