Abstract:
The invention relates to an elastic socket having a large load capacity for electrical items such as lamps, light bulbs, etc. Said socket comprises a base or shell (1) formed by a top hollow cylindrical section (2) that is closed on the top end and a thin lower hollow cylindrical section (3) having a larger diameter and consisting of a top portion (4) that is slanted outward and attached by its lower periphery to a cylindrical portion (5) having a peripheral flange (6) on its lower edge. The top surface of the top section (2) has three notches (7, 8 and 9) with three circular perforations (10a, 10b and 10c). The inner part of the base or shell (1) has a thin semi-cylindrical metal section (11) with a portion (P) folded at a 90 DEG angle, a circular perforation (12), a pair of legs (13) to hold a spring (14), holding means (15) to hold together the semi-cylindrical section (11) and the cylindrical section (2) by the perforation (10c) thereof with a cable (c1+), in addition to a semi-elliptical metal plate (16) with a circular perforation (17) and a projection (18), and holding means (19) to hold together the semi-elliptical plate (16) and the top section (2) by its perforation (10a) with a cable (C2-). In the inner part of the base or shell (1), a plurality of semi-radial bulges (20) is located in approximately two thirds of the perimeter thereof, said bulges acting as a stop against the base of a lamp, light bulb, etc. due to the considerable increase of friction that it generated when combined with the elastic principle of the socket. This makes it possible for said item weighing approximately 3 kg. to be introduced and removed. The invention also relates to an elastic socket having a high load capacity consisting of a base or shell (21) formed by a top hollow staggered cylindrical section (22) and closed on its top end, a lower thin hollow cylindrical section (23) and a hollow threaded adapter (24) that is closed on its top end which is held by pressure and with an adhesive on the top staggered section (22) to attach a conventional socket. In the inner part of the base or shell (21), a plurality of semi-radial bulges (40) is located in approximately two thirds of the perimeter thereof.

Abstract:
An improved incandescent holder assembly is disclosed. The assembly is characterised by a novel biasing means with two downwardly extending arms, which are located around the pinch portion of the bulb. The biasing means has an outwardly extending end portion, which when depressed, causes the two arms to open outwards, away from said pinch portion so that the biasing means does not foul against the pinch portion, nor does the pinch portion obstruct the spring action of said biasing means. The radially inward force developed as result of the opening of the downwardly extending arms is approximately 75 % higher as compared to the prior art assemblies making the lamp assembly of the present invention more rigid and strong.

Abstract:
An IC socket includes a housing detachably containing an IC device, a plurality of contacts provided respectively with contact points disposed inside the housing in an elastically displaceable manner, a pressing member pressing the IC device contained and making the leads of the IC device abut against the contact points of the contacts, an elastic member elastically biasing the pressing member and making the pressing member generate a pressing force for pressing the IC device, and an operation member adapted to be operated to move relative to the housing against the biasing force of the elastic member so as to displace the pressing member. A force transmission member is interposed between the elastic member and the operation member, for transmitting the biasing force of the elastic member to the operation member with the biasing force being reduced by a leverage action.

Abstract:
A double-ended socket system for safely and easily seating a double-ended lamp is disclosed. The system has two socket assemblies spaced a distance corresponding to the length of a double-ended lamp. Each socket assembly has a housing with a recess that houses a cylindrical socket for receiving a lamp end that rotates between a disengaged and engaged orientation. The housing has an attached electrical connector connected to a power source. The socket has another attached electrical connector that contacts the electrical connector of the housing only when the socket is rotated to the engaged orientation, thus eliminating the electrical shock hazard of conventional double-ended socket systems. The lamp may be removed only while in the disengaged orientation. A user may install a double-ended lamp into the socket system with only one hand. A method of use of a double-ended socket system is also disclosed.
