Disclosed is keypad circuitry operable to detect a pressed key while reducing electromagnetic interference (EMI). The keypad circuitry is operable to reduce EMI in two ways: a) reducing the voltage swing occurring at the row circuitry and column circuitry of the keypad, and b) reducing the number of signal transitions by restricting the signal transitions to occurring at the column and row corresponding to a pressed key. By limiting signal transitions to occurring only at the row and column corresponding to a pressed key, fewer signal transitions occur, and thus, less EMI is produced. Additionally, reduced voltage swings at the row circuitry and column circuitry results in reduced EMI.

This invention introduces apparatus and methods to efficiently encode the quantization parameters of split multi-rate lattice vector quantization. In this invention, by doing spectral analysis on the split multi-rate vector quantized spectrum, the spectrum is split to null vectors region and non-null vectors region. For the null vectors region, instead of transmitting series of indication for null vectors, an indication of null vectors region and the quantized value of index of the ending vector in the null vectors region (or the number of the null vectors in the null vectors region) are transmitted. The indication of null vectors region can be designed in many ways, the only requirement is the indication should be distinguishable in the decoder side. The ending index or the number of null vectors can be quantized by an adaptively designed codebook. By applying of the invented method, some bits can be saved from the codebook indications.

Protection of a computer system (104) against attacks using malformed files is applied to an application (106) configured to process files of a predefined Headerless format indicated by a Characteristic pattern of bytes. An incoming file's Characteristic pattern is checked by comparing its leading bytes with Characteristic patterns. If its leading bytes have such a pattern, the file (100) is subjected to a full content check; the file is discarded (100) if it lacks such a pattern or has contents considered damaging. A file is checked regarding suitability for further processing by comparing its leading bytes with the Characteristic pattern of the predefined Headerless format. A full content check of the file may also be carried out. The application (106) is permitted to process files having the Characteristic pattern of the predefined Headerless format and appropriate file contents. The method can deal with ZIP files (b) etc. starting with redundant data b1 even if polymorphic, provided that the file is not potentially damaging.

A data processing application uses a translation file to render a visual surface based on underlying structured data. The data processing application provides mapping between nodes associated with the visual surface and nodes associated with the structured data. The mapping is generated in two phases. In a first phase, the data processing application adds mapping functions to the translation file. In the second phase, the data processing application renders the visual surface on the basis of a specific instance of the structured data, and, in the process, executes the mapping functions within the translation file to provide specific pointer information that is embedded amongst the nodes associated with the visual surface. The pointer information points back to specific locations in the structured data, thus providing mapping between the visual surface and the structured data. The structured data can be formed using Extensible Markup Language (XML). The visual surface can be formed using Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). The translation file can be formed using Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformation (XSLT).

A method, system and computer program product are provided for implementing enhanced data caching and takeover of non-owned storage devices in a computer system. Each of a first controller and a second controller has a cache memory. During normal run-time, each storage device controller validates cached write data after it is written to its cache memory by reading the write data from its cache memory. One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for improving asynchronous programming execution at runtime. Asynchronous programming code can comprise more than one level of hierarchy, such as in an execution plan. Respective aggregation operations in a portion of the asynchronous programming code are unrolled, to create a single level iterative execution, by combining elements of the multi-level iterative execution of the asynchronous programming code. Seismic data recorded by subsurface seismic sensors placed in a borehole, such as an oil or gas well, are transformed via a process of upward wavefield propagation to pseudo-receivers at the surface of the earth. The seismic data thus transformed can be processed as though the data had been recorded by the pseudo-receivers at the surface rather than in the borehole where the data were actually recorded. This method accurately accounts for seismic source statics, anisotropy, and all velocity effects between the real receivers in the borehole and the pseudo-receivers at the surface of the earth.

Disclosed is an internal-combustion engine controller capable of improving emission characteristics at a start of an internal-combustion engine. When injection during an exhaust stroke is controlled in a port-injection engine, the engine controller ECU performs the first fuel injection during t1 to t2 according to a memory-based crank angle as illustrated in FIG. 12(b) at a fuel injection timing before determination of an actual stroke. Thus, the injected fuel has been introduced into a cylinder during the actual stroke. If fuel is not injected during t1N to t3N within the next exhaust stroke as denoted by the solid line, this causes misfire in the cylinder, so that the engine rotation at the start cannot be smooth. Thus, the ECU clears a finished fuel injection flag (F_INJ) at an incorrect crank angle storage determination timing (tJUD) as denoted by the dashed-dotted line, thereby capable of controlling the fuel injection.

A method produces a hardened galvanization of a continuously-running rolled steel strip. The strip is immersed in a coating tank containing a bath of a liquid metal mixture, e.g. zinc and aluminum, to be deposited on the strip, and permanently circulated between the coating tank and a preparation device. The temperature of the liquid mixture is deliberately lowered in order to reduce the iron solubility threshold and sufficiently high for initiating, in the preparation device, the fusion of at least one Zn—Al ingot in an amount necessary for compensating for the liquid mixture used for deposition on the strip. The device is implemented so that the circuit for circulating the liquid mixture is thermally optimized.
