Apparatus and methods are disclosed for separating salts, minerals, organic matter and other impurities from seawater, brackish water, wastewater or other water resources by freezing contained water in a downward vertical direction. Generally, feed water is pumped into a tank and a refrigerant contacts the upper surface of the feed water to form a layer of ice. By continuing this process, the feed water will freeze in a downward direction as the ice layer thickens. Salt and other impurities will continue to be rejected into the feed water and may be drained from the tank through a drain pipe after a block of ice is formed. Additional feed water may then be pumped into the tank to raise the block of ice for removal or ejection from the tank.

A remote user can define one or more zone based driver/vehicle behavior definitions. Current vehicle location is analyzed at the vehicle or remotely to determine if the vehicle is approaching or has arrived at a location for which a zone based driver/vehicle behavior has been defined. For zone based driver behavior definitions, a display in the vehicle automatically displays the zone based driver behavior definition to the driver. In some embodiments driver compliance is tracked and non-compliance is reported to the remote user. For zone based vehicle behavior definitions, a vehicle controller at the vehicle responsible for controlling the defined behavior is reprogrammed to impose the defined behavior (no regeneration at location, max speed at location, no idle over 2 minutes at location, etc.). Once the vehicle has left the zone, the controller programming reverts to its prior state, and/or zone based driver behavior definition is no longer displayed.

It is preferable to reduce an uncomfortable feeling arising from an abrupt driving force generated in an automatic starting clutch in an automatic clutch vehicle. When an automatic clutch operating device is about to automatically engage a starting clutch, a brake controller drives a brake actuator to forcibly actuate a brake device, thereby braking a driving wheel WR. Here, a brake pressure to be applied to the driving wheel WR can be set as a brake pressure such as to change an expected driving torque which is accompanied by an uncomfortable feeling in the absence of control by the brake controller into a norm driving torque which is not accompanied by the uncomfortable feeling, taking into account the clutch capacity and an engine control output.

The present invention generally relates to the use of diphenyliodonium salts for lowering sulfide concentrations and for preventing growth of microbes in a water injection system, a hydrocarbon extraction system, or a hydrocarbon production system. Treating oilfield injection and produced fluids containing high levels of microbes with diphenyliodonium salts can significantly decrease the amount of hydrogen sulfide produced, which can be used to measure sulfidogenesis. The treatment can also decrease the number of microbes in the injection and produced fluids. Thus, these diphenyliodonium salts can be effectively used as inhibitors of hydrogen sulfide generation and as biocides in oilfield fluids.

An electronic device for displaying video signals on a display device has a processing device and a storage device. The processing device generates a user interface including video areas for showing the video signals on the display device. The processing device determines a first area size for the video areas based on an interface size of the user interface, a row quantity and an aspect ratio, to arrange the video areas. The processing device adjusts the first area size to generate a second area size and a third area size for the video areas according to the interface size, when the number of the video areas in each row is not equal to each other. The processing device shows the video signals in the video areas based on the second area size and the third area size on the user interface of the display device.

The method also includes determining view rank values for each of the first endpoint and the second endpoint. The method also includes causing the user interface to display a first user video stream in a current presenter position and to display a second user video stream in a secondary presenter position based on the view rank values.
