摘要: An ink pressure regulator for use inside of a flexible ink bag reservoir for a replaceable or refillable ink cartridge comprises a bow spring (60) configured to have substantially linear force/deflection characteristics and a pair of plates (40, 50) which collapse to a substantially flat shape to minimize the amount of ink remaining after printing has depleted the ink from the cartridge. The regulator may be manufactured of one or a plurality of separate pieces.

摘要: The invention is for use with a visible medium (73, 373) capable of light reflection etc., and for use with a colour-image source (42, 342) that defines a desired colour. Here a device (72, 372, 85-96) for causing the medium to appear coloured includes a gray-scale subsystem (K ;26,96K) to achromatically suppress a stated fraction of the reflection ; and at least two device-primary subsystems (C, M and Y [and X] ; 27-29, 96C-96Y) to cause selective reflection of light of two associated device-primary colours. Even if the device, as originally made, in effect uses the gray-scale subsystem to help construct colours, or the device-primary subsystems to help form gray-scale "values", such cross-dependency is essentially removed. A programmed processor (43-56, 343-356, 357) resolves the desired-rendition information into Fraction-Black (K), Fraction-Colourant (N, N 1 ,N 2 ) and hue (H). Fraction-Black (K) information is applied exclusively to control only the gray-scale subsystem (K); Fraction-Colourant (N) to control only the device-primary subsystem (CMY[X]), and hue (H) to select a dominant and a subordinate primary subsystem (C and/or M and/or Y [and/or X] and as between them apportion (N 1 , N 2 ) the Fraction-Colourant (N).

摘要: A dashboard interface includes a plurality of software buttons (11,12) provided on a panel. Each software button (11,12) represents one of a plurality of applications. Upon a user selecting a first software button (11,12), a first application represented by the first software button (11,12) is started. Upon a user selecting and dragging a visual representation (151) of a second application to the panel, a new software button (11,12) representing the second application is added to the panel. Upon a user selecting a different software button size in a configuration menu (90), the size of each software button (11,12) in the plurality of software buttons (11,12) is changed. The plurality of applications are listed in a configuration menu (90). The order in which the plurality of software buttons (11,12) is displayed on the panel reflects the order of the listing of the plurality of applications. Upon a user changing the order of the listing of the plurality of applications, the order in which the plurality of software buttons (11,12) is displayed on the panel is changed.

摘要: A collapsible ink reservoir structure (25) to facilitate assembly of a replaceable or refillable printer ink cartridge is comprised of a relatively rigid frame (20) and flexible membranes (22, 24) forming an ink reservoir having side walls which collapse to a substantially flat shape to minimize the amount of ink remaining in the reservoir structure after computer generated printing has depleted the ink from the cartridge. The structure (25) is a separate unit which is assembled and mounted in an outer housing (10) to form an ink cartridge. The structure preferably contains an ink pressure regulator (30) which maintains a negative pressure therein.

摘要: In a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) apparatus, a source beam (113, 312) is generated along a line perpendicular to the SPR surface (102). The source beam is translated into an incident beam to the SPR surface at selectable angles of incidence. The reflections of the source beam, corresponding to the different angles of incidence, are translated and rotated into a beam (112, 316) receivable by a detector along a line which is also perpendicular to the SPR surface. The source, detector (108) and SPR surface can then be held in fixed relative positions and a more stable apparatus can therefore be constructed.

摘要: Disclosed is a device independent system and method of displaying text on a graphics display device (108, 128). The system provides programmed routines in a storage device (114) located on a controller card (108) for the graphics device (128). These routines are loaded into memory (116) by an operating system (118) during initialization of the operating system. Once loaded, the routines become an extension of the operating system (118) to provide the means for displaying information on the graphics device (128). Each type of graphics device (128) contains a storage device (114) that provides a set of access routines specifically programmed for the device (128). These routines have a standard interface across all devices, allowing displaying of textual information to be device independent. The storage device (114) contains multiple sets of routines, one for each processor type (102) capable of utilizing the graphics device (128), thus processor independence is achieved.
